Can someone explain where this kit is installed in an RS and how it is installed?

    Thanks

Mine is in my trunk also, it is good to put it in there to keep it dry.

It's tie wrapped where it's plugged in and the cable for my iPhone is plugged into it.
If I was to do it again, I will just get $7.00 socket from Walmart.

Mounts in the trunk right side high up, The instructions are straight forward. You just might have to put a fuse in the slot where they say to tap into the fuse box, Also if you do tap in where they say remember that circuit is only live for about 30 seconds after the key is turned off.

yes you do, there should have been a diagram for the drill location with the instructions.

The rear wall of the trunk should be marked, about midway down on the left (clutch/shifter)side.

    Default Well this is interesting.............

Can't find the markings for this but I'll figure it out, but whats interesting is somewhere between manufacture date of 11/2011 and 1/2012 they changed the frunk my wife's is different from mine, subtle changes but nonetheless definitely changed. The layout is slightly different the later manufacture date has these hooks type things (four to be exact) the earlier one has none, mine the manual is mounted vertically hers is horizontal, plus other items.

Interesting......... had not noticed this until I was looking for the markings Scotty mentioned.

The markings may be in the back of the new version, visible only when you remove the trunk?

This may very well be a stupid question, but I have yet to install my 12v yet and now am thinking about installing it in the trunk. My question is, can I run my GPS cable out of the trunk somehow to my GPS on handlebars? Planned on buying a second power cable from garmin and leaving it with the bike.

I have my Garmin hard wired to the bikes battery. I use the 12v plug for my cell phone or Ipod etc...

I have the outlet in the trunk and installed powerlets in the dash. Other spyderlovers have the same setup. I run a radar detector and my iphone 4 which I use for GPS. Here is a link and a pic.

I would like to keep the dash clean. Was going to just put outlet in trunk and use a plug that has the two usb ports on it, then I can power cell in the frunk if needed and always have cable for GPS
