I have actually had these for over a year now. The vibram 5-fingers have several different TYPES of them. Some are for just everyday walking, nothing special, up to "Trek" walking. I have the Bikila (running) shoe and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
The shoes don't give you a workout, but they HELP YOU WORKOUT better i.e. run better. They took me a week of walking around in them to get used to them, but ones I did, I liked them. It took me a while to get used to running in them since THEY CHANGE THE WAY YOU RUN. You run more with your calf muscle then you do your theigh. I could talk your ear off about them and you would still never understand.
They are just great, you will love them. Sorry for the Caps, but I wanted to make sure people skim over the correct information about them.
If others decide to buy a pair, I would suggest trying any kind on for sizing, then go online and research what one you would like. Fila also makes a pair called Skeletoes. haven't tried them yet because the Vibram's haven't warn out yet; they are the same concept though.

I've got them. Very comfortable. Feet take a bit of adjusting as they don't have any cushioning. But it's amazing being albe to actually feel the ground underneath you. You never realize just how unlevel some floors are until you walk across them in these.

Fila makes them too called Skele-Toes. They've been around for a couple of years. I've tried them on and my feet are not made for these things (crummy broken toes!)

It's a natural fit
If you have a spyder these will get you just about as Much attention. I have several pairs and one pair of skeletoes . I like the 5fingers better, thinner sole more flexibility, but vibrams customer service sucks if you have a bum pair.
Corbin saddle
spyderpops block off plate, bump skid, belt guard
IPS
Tricled LED lights all around(too many to name here)
Smoothspyder belt tensioner
Custom Dynamics britesides
VTC floorboards, upper air vents, spoiler
BK car stuff HID upgrade
trailer hitch
Repainted rear fender, trunk latch assembly, switch cluster, gauge cluster
cell phone interface kit
travel cover that no longer fits due to the spoiler
New sway bar
New shock relocator

You will love these five fingers they wear great because they are so flexable ,The problems are that you won't want to wear anything else after you have them , you have to have toe socks and they arent cheep and they are. colder. You will get a million opinions ,The gentle massaging you get has health benefits as well you never get any rubbed places and there is no break in time have fun Lamont

You can get toe socks but these things are comfortable without them and gentle cycle on washer does a fine job of cleaning them.

Last night on Modern Marvels they had a show on shoes and these were one of types shown. They also featured Tony Lama. They are one of the finest boot makers in the world. They also have the most expensive $50,000. Typical Spyderlovers a subject comes up and then appears on TV. This was a new episode, first time on TV.

I would be worried about broken toes if I bump something, just as I would without regular shoes. Sure doesn't appear to provide much protection in that regard.

I wanted a pair of these for years, ever since reading this NY Mag piece on how lousy regular shoes are for walking:
http://nymag.com/health/features/46213/index3.html
Alas, when I finally tried to buy myself a pair last year, I learned that too-small pinky toes and a couple of hammers prevented me from getting my toes in the gloves.
But most everyone else raves about these... maybe I can find someone to craft me a custom pair.
Silver 2010 RS SE5: Triple Play, Taillight, Brightsides, Fender Tips, Easy Risers; Evo Sway Bar; Airhawk R & Beadrider; latch springs; Grab-On grips; Crampbuster; 24" Madstad smoke windshield & deflectors; N-R round bag & soft saddlebags; BRP handlebar bag; Throttlemeister; Spyderpops Missing Air Dam & Air Mgmt System; Rivco driver & passenger boards & pegs; ISCI parking brake extension; Ultimate Midrider Seat w/both backrests, Fox Racing Shocks, Yoshi R-77 exhaust and a whole lotta love!

Yeah. You don't need socks. Don't think most of the models are even meant for them.
