    Default Accident in Dickinson

A friend (physician assistant proficient in trauma) came upon an accident on FM 517 in Dickinson, Spyder ran into the back of a large SUV. Apparently pretty bad trauma, life flight called. Anyone know what happened?

Florida man, 68, is in critical condition

    By Chris Paschenko
    The Daily News
    Published January 21, 2012
TEXAS CITY — A Florida man remained hospitalized Friday in critical condition after he drove his three-wheeled motorcycle into the rear of a sport utility vehicle, authorities said.

Peter Amatuzio, 68, of Naples, Fla., was traveling north in the 6800 block of FM 517 in Texas City when his 2012 Can-Am Spyder struck a Toyota Highlander in the rear, Texas City police Capt. Brian Goetschius said.

Amatuzio was wearing a helmet, but it came off during the 12:02 p.m. Wednesday accident. Police found Amatuzio in a ditch suffering from substantial head and facial injuries, Goetschius said.

The tricycle, which has two font wheels and one rear wheel, struck the SUV that had stopped when traffic backed up. Police found the SUV’s rear window shattered and said Amatuzio’s helmet struck one of the SUV’s rear gate pillars, Goetschius said.

The SUV driver was shaken but uninjured, Goetschius said.

A medical helicopter flew Amatuzio to the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he remained in critical condition Friday, Goetschius said.

Wow, took Galveston News long enough to print it. The description and picture I saw wasn't good. Helmit came off on impact. Prayers for Mr Amatuzio and the family.
