Spare key under the doormat...
Today I had a couple of spare blank keys cut so that the frunk and trunk could be opened in the event of a "lockout". I removed one of the rear passenger footrest rubber pads and cut out an area large enough to nest the key. Once the pad is replaced, it's an easy task to lift the inside edge and remove the spare.matcut.jpgmatkey.jpg

Ummm...what about the RFI? Didn't I read something about total shutdown if wrong key is used? Or is that ONLY if power on is attempted?
Dont get me wrong, sounds like great idea if used cautiously.

I also made a couple of spare chipless keys for mine just to unlock the frunk and rear compartments. I have used these chipless keys to turn the ignition and start the RT by holding a chipped key near the ignition switch. Once running, the chipped key could be left at home and the RT will continue to run until it's turned off. No problems that I could see.

Done!
Had to order the blank online, couldn't find one locally. But it's done, I like it.

I think the idea was to hide a spare key that will open the hood or trunk. It would not start the bike but it would turn in the ignition to allow the person to retrieve a key they have accidentally locked in the trunk. Great idea, I will certain get this done.

Thanks..Great Idea.
I Googled ILCO X270 and found keys4urride.com. Then had the local Ace Hdwe cut them for me.
And no, these are not 'chipped' so, in theory, only used to open trunks.

Did the same, but...
too lazy to undercut the pad. Just slipped it underneath. Still can't tell it's there... and it's stayed for months now...
