I'm sure there's something out there on this subject but I can't seem to make a search work now.
So will ask the question: does anyone have one of those Ram mounts that uses a "U" bolt around the handlebar
for their GPS or whatever?
Thanks.

That is a very interesting-looking mount I've been looking for a way to hook a water bottle mount to the rear grips for my Missus; do you think it might work?
Pincushion's looks like the right thing for me. Can't put it on left side though due to clutch reservoir. Will have to take a look and see if it fits on the right side. Like the idea better than the U bolt which could possibly slip.

along with kewl metal gps mount.. nothing else required...
2010 RTac, Utopia backrest, spyder pops heat shield, KewlMetal grip endcaps, Gps mount, hmt tail lights, day ryders, siebel horn, Kohmo ast tire.. oh yeah wife of 25 years always on the back seat with q2 headset!Correction!!!!.. the Bastrop fires engulfed the poor spyder after 16000 fun filled miles. Now riding 2011 metalic RTS with nbv footpegs, heat shield, hmt with strobe, Utopia backrest, and the same wife of 25 years with g4 headsets.
I did not use the u-bolt mount. I purchased the 9mm 45-degree ball mount (?272b?) from Ram Mounts. I got a 60mm long 10mm chrome bolt (spendy) and a 3/4 chrome spacer/some flat washers. I mounted the Ram Ball on one of the lower handlebar bolt locations with the longer bolt and torqued it to 28 ft-lbs (per dealer from manual). I used this for a cupholder but it would work for any number of accessories.
Billy and Dave - thanks for the pics and list of items. There are so many pieces in the RAM system and I haven't found a stocking dealer anywhere in northern Washington. Billy - can you post a list of the parts for your installation - looks like the short arm, what about the piece at the top of the arm?
Thanks

Wally World has a good one for about 6 bucks, fits and looks good. In auto dept.
This is the list of parts I used plus I added the drink holder for who may be interested. The prices are Canadian so I assume US prices will be less on the US GPS City web site. When I ordered my parts I got them in one day, great service.
Thanks all. Just ordered from Mount Depot - same base as Pincushion, RAM-B-231Z-2 (includes both strap - 1.57" to 3.15" dia - as per his picture as well as the U bolt -.5" to 1.25" dia - fittings). Added 201U Standard arm length, 238U Diamond plate, and GA7U for my Garmin 276C. Looks like it all should work just fine.

I posted a Simple RAM Mount some time ago for the RT, but the archives disappeared with the switch to the new version, so I can't search the old threads for you. Here's a pic.
