    Default Farewell Old Friend

Irish and Alton Keel were the first two active members of my Mid-Atantic Spyder Ryders group on meetup.com, where his membership and bio are still posted. We enjoyed ryding together o'er Catoctin State Park, Cunningham Falls, and Emmitsburg, MD, also out to his home in Martinsburg. Irish and I broke bread together, drank a Smithwicks together and rode together with Alton down to SITS last year.

I haven't claim to being Brian's closest friend, but having known Brian personally ... the things that brought him joy (family and friends) and sadness (missing his Phoebe). We always had time for a cig, a laugh, a beer and a rant. He was a demon on his Spyder ... A person of strong patriotic convictions. His passing was just brought to my attention today by a third party. I'm stunned and deeply saddene; but to borrow from Brian's affinity to all things Irish, "In order to find his equal, an Irishman must talk to God." Bless Irish as he as ascended to do just that.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at Spyderfest this year. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

    From one Irishman to another:

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields
    And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Some say a man is measured by the number of friends he leaves behind, so he was obviously a quite a man.. Godspeed..

So sad to read this... I was looking for his Spyder at the BBQ too...
I only met Irish once at the previous Lamonster BBQ and I enjoyed talking with him on the front porch.. He is and will be missed.
