Check and make sure the brake light isn't on.

My RSS is doing the same, the switch that disconnects the cruise when the brake is pressed, it is a warranty part. I will have mine fixed this Thursday, you can pull up on the brake padal and push set cruise at the same time and it usually works.

The cruise control quit working on my 2014 RT also... It was doing exactly what yours was...
I had it replaced under warranty.

My 2014 RT would stop working every time I took it in for service. After about 100 miles, it would work and not give me any more trouble. I was never able to find out why it would not work, so I figured it had something to do with the bike being plugged into the buds software. I know this is probably wrong, and it was only a guess, but as long as it gets back right, and I have warranty coverage, I don't worry about it.

Have you mentioned this to the servicing technician?
He might have an idea about the cause: if he knows about the problem.

Just a quick visual....multiple switches disengage the cruise, and will also prevent it from setting. Check the clutch switch, and brake switch. make sure all wires are attached, and you can hear the "click". Brake switch clicks twice thru it's travel.
Probably not it, but worth a look just in case. Please post the outcome
    1. Check fluids & tire pressures.
    2. Start bike.
    3. Hold on.
    4. Full throttle.
    5. Repeat 3-5.
