Belt Adjustment Problem
I adjusted my belt tonight to be in spec as it was running towards the outside of the rear sprocket. After doing so the rear brake now squeaks very loud in reverse and squeaks a bit when going forward when I press the pedal. I can adjust it towards the middle of the sprocket and the squeal goes away but I'm worried about wearing the belt. Anyone else run into this or know what would cause it? Thanks!

I keep my belt in the middle of the sprocket, So far 17 thousand + miles and no wear.

When you adjusted the belt, you 'tilted' the axle in the swing arm. That mis-aligned the rear disk slightly with the rear brake caliper, which is mounted on the swingarm.
The noise should disappear soon as the pads wear to the new position of the disk.
You might get some relief by adjusting the park brake off a little.
Cheers;
Pogo.
