I wondered the same thing, Bruiser. 100 degree days around here are common in the summer and I would worry about a possible problem there.

BTW, just for fun I went to Auto Zone and picked up some Lucas Octane Boost - the real good stuff. I have never used a fuel additive before and I have not found the Star Brite yet, so I gave the Lucas a try. I am a big fan of Lucas products. SO I opened the bottle and just put a little teeny bit in during fill up...

All I can say is HOLY SHNIKIES!! 14 has never run this good. She pulls like I have never felt her pull before. Too soon to tell if it's helping fuel economy yet but one would think it has to be. Kalifornia must be selling some real crap fuel!

Home Depot carries the 8oz bottles of SEF for $6-8 I think.(at least they do here in San Diego, Ca)
From that bottle I fill two 1oz bottles and keep them in the frunk (I have had a problem with an opened "shooter" bottle leaking, so I use these instead http://www.containerstore.com/shop/k...023382&N=74064 )

I just refill them when I use the last one of before I plan an all day ryde.

Raptor, I looked at the Lucas Booster as well. I used it a few years ago in another truck that I had and it worked very well. I have the Star Tron but just a little lary about the temps. It's been in th mid 90s here already and it's not even June yet.

Pincushion, those bottles look like just the thing. I'll look local to see if I can find something similar. No containor store around here.

Yes, I definitely like those bottles. I lucked out and found a store right near where I work.

Bruiser, I'm pretty sure you can get these online but if you really want some of these and you're stuck I'm sure that since I have a location so close to me we can work together to get you some.

Thanks. I did see where they have them on line. Hazards of living in a small town. No Home Depot, no Costco, no ... We do have three Wal Marts and a Sams . The wife and I say we're like Andy and Barney, we have to travel to Raleigh for the big stores.

That's not such bad thing Brother! Kathy's Mom and Dad used to live way out in the woods outside of Pine Bluff, Ark. You have to travel quite a ways to get everything out there! But man was it pretty. Dangerous but fascinating. It was pretty funny the first time I went out there, beach burb kid from California and all. Only took about 3 days for the drawl to set in!

Well, the offer still stands if ya need. The container store is having a travel sale; I picked up some bottles for a buck each yesterday.

You could always just buy 5-hour energy drink bottles and re-use them with the Star-Tron in them ---- just don't try and drink em'--- I hear they don't taste so great....
    -----------------------------

I've been using the Star-Tron on and off for a month now-- and some of the other gas treatment stuff from the guy that was in Cuba.

I can't say I notice any difference in performance or MPG. Maybe it's helping with the ethanol issues -- no way to know.

One thing that I keep wondering pertaining to the 'enzymes' doing their job--- I could understand for gas that sits a long time, etc.... but how much 'work' could they really do in the 2 hour timeframe it takes to run through a tank of Spyder gas?

Duh, why not just use the 5 hour energy instead? I hear it helps out the mileage!

Yes, I seem to recall a certain someone that had a bit of an experience with 5-hour energy bottles and fuel treatment bottles...

Sorry Boss, can't let you live that one down just yet!!

Seriously though, the Lucas Octane Boost kinda rocked! I might just stick with that for a minute and see what happens a few tanks down the road.

    Default Star Tron

I know this topic has been beat to death, but....

I bought a bottle of Star Tron and put about an ounce and half in my 96 Pathfinder. WOW!!! Now my Pathy wasnt running terribly bad, but after adding Star Tron, it runs MUCH MUCH better. I have a Flowmaster exhaust and K&N air filter on it so it can be loud, but just after the 12 mile ride home from the base and pulling into my driveway, all you could hear was the burble of the exhaust and the intake breathing....the engine itself could barely be heard. My Spyder doesnt have any major issues, but I am going to add an ounce to it...just to see. So far in my opinion...Star Tron works.

Well we have been using it for over ten tanks of fuel now... Ran one tank without it and all the evil demons came back (Feels like it is missing every once in a while, reduced performance, etc). At the next fuel up (Always use the same two stations, just depends what side of town I am on at the time) all those "Have to look for them" but you will notice if you know they are there, went away.

Cannot say if gas mileage is better or worse. We do not keep track. That and way to many folks think one persons MPG should/might be theirs, when in all reality my wife and I live in a very hilly, stop and go community and our mileage would not match a lot of others. No vehicle we have ever owned has gotten the mileage we are told it would get .

We like the StarTron and plan to continue to use it...

I never got past the Lucas Octane Boost! This stuff is just amazing. I cannot say with any certainty that it has improved MPG, but the engine sure is running better since I started using it. I don't put it in with every tank; about every third tank. But I like it!!

I've not noticed any difference in performance, smoothness or MPG from running Star Tron or the other 'magic elixir' that I got in Cuba.......

I know they both claim to use 'enzymes' to modify the fuel -- but just how quick could these 'enzymes' work anyway? I mean a tank is gonna be empty every 2 hours when riding.....

    Wink Sold on Star Tron

Went on a 350 mile round trip Sunday (7/17). Put in 1 oz of Star Tron when I filled up to go and 1 oz in when I filled up for the return trip. I normally get about 29 MPG riding two up. When I got back I checked the mileage for the whole trip and got 37.29 MPG. I used 2.66 gallons less then I normally would @ $3.65/ gal. for a savings of $9.70. The Star Tron cost about $1.00 oz. So I saved $7.70 on a 350 mile trip.

So, I am sold on Star Tron. Going to the Redwoods in August, will be about 700 mile round trip plus whatever we ride while there. I should save some $$ on gas.

1 or 2 tanks isn't enough to get an accurate mpg reading IMO. No way to fill the spyder tank with any degree of accuracy.

Try 5 tanks with and without and see what the difference is......

Fire, I've been using the product now for the last few fill-ups. I've gotten 33, 34.7, and 31.9mpg. This, with far better performance...how do I rate the performance? Certainly better acceleration...cleaner, it feels. I have all the bags on my bike and was averaging a little before 30 mpg before the addition. I have been riding very hard as of late, so these new numbers do indicate a bit of a positive change...plus, the engine feels like it is running a little better...then again, I might be getting fooled, but the mileage is up a little...

Your numbers on 3 tanks are exactly why a person needs to look at more than a tank or two for accurate mpg. I'd do 5-10 tanks with and without the magic elixir and then compare notes.

I know someguy and myself have noticed we seemed to get better mpg when riding hard.

A major factor is going to be whether the riding is highway or city. My spyder gets much better mpg in the city as the CHAD really kills mpg on the highway.

Well I guess the test for me will be in the first week in August, I will be putting about 900 miles on my Spyder. I am going to use Star Tron on the whole trip. I have already put about 6000 miles on it in the past year. So I should be able to tell if there is a difference I have a program called Gas Buddy on my iPhone where I have recorded every fill up, so I have a record of every gallon I have ever used. So by the time I get home I should be able to tell if Star Tron is worth the cost.

I've been using the additive since I first saw Majic Mans recommendation here on the forum.

Prior to using it I would get between 25 to 30 mpg, depending weather I was solo w/o trailer or dual w/ trailer.

Since using the stuff my mpg has not been under 30.5 w/ trailer 2 up
and I even got one tank running solo w/o trailer that was 39 mpg!

I did miss adding it to one tank and dropped back to 26.5 mpg. Next tank w/ additive went right back to over 30 mpg.

Just saying, in my opinion, IT WORKS.

Haven't seen how it is packaged, but how do you folks measure out 1 oz per fillup?

I just tip the bottle in the gas tank and listen, gulg gulg, done.
Not very scientific but it works for me. Don't know if the Star Tron [brite] does works though??

There are oz. markings on the bottle. After you do it a couple of times, you can get it pretty close. A fraction of an ounce more or less isn't going to make that big of a difference, in my opinion.
