Wink KewlMetal prices went up today...

For a few days I have been eyeballing items to purchase... Had them in my "Shopping cart"... Tried to complete the transaction.... Only to have my screen go to "Connection lost" and spent about 20 minutes trying to get back to their site with no luck. Went to lunch, came back to finish buying them.... Only to see my cost go up about $100...

Sign of the times I am certain, and certainly warranted... Just need to re-think some of the add-ons before buying now...

Ouch! That'll put a crimp in a guy's mod plans eh? Oh well. I have a few things I still need to put on 14, so I'm good for now. I was starting to get all carried away with my modding plans, and then I did some math and figured out rather quickly that the money spent on mods will pay for a heck of alot of gas! So I decided rather quickly that I would rather spend less on modding and more on riding!

Besides, at the rate I'm going I'll be in the service sequence soon enough, so the money will have to go there anyway...

Prices are going up. But really, things aren't costing any more. The Fed has been printing a lot of dollars. Every time they print more than they destroy, the dollars your're holding are worth less. So it simply takes more of them to buy the same thing.

My guess is that many cost increases don't even cover what the real increase is.

Today's dollar is worth approximately $0.02 compared to a dollar's worth in 1900.

Pretty sure they're printing money faster than my salary is going up

But kewlmetal's quality warrants the prices. So be it.

Today's dollar is worth approximately $0.02 compared to a dollar's worth in 1900.
Good estimate! As a historian, I like to look into these sorts of things to use in class, and a good site to bounce these off of is www.measuringworth.com. When you compare the purchasing power of a dollar in 1900 with one in 2009 (last year with available data), it comes out to 4₵. Note that it climbs to 8 cents by the 1929 Stock Market crash, and stays there through the end of WWII. Naturally, there are a lot of ways to make the comparison (GDP, wages, CPI, etc.), so your mileage may vary.

Interestingly enough, it seems like discretionary income is generally higher now, though.

It seems that anytime gas prices go up everything esle jumps. Gas is what drives everything (shipping, plastics, food, heating ect.) I have never firgure out every year the goverment said cost of living only grew 2.5% to 3% each year. My cost is usely double that.

Now that they have the Alaskan pipeline shut down for awhile, watch the gas prices jump again.

That really is not good ,I was looking to buy the RTS GPS/Gizmo mount and it has gone up . So shelf that idea for now as I will now hold out for something else just as good or better so now its their loss not mine.

Not to worry folks. I have no plans to raise the prices on Seal FloorBoards anytime in the foreseeable future. I know what it costs me to make them and what a fair profit is. I'm happy to make my "Daily Bread" by slowly increasing the number of units I sell and building my business on quality and service.

    Default Prices

When I was 12 my dad bought a new 4 door Chevy in Oregon, the only model that was sold, for $750.00. And I'm sure it weighed more than the equivalant model today. You can compare only by weight.

I think they are getting snowed in or have really bad storms still in their area. I got an email update from them today on an order I placed early last week, and they are telling me the same thing they already told me last week.. Plus I put an order in a few days ago for more items and it still shows pending...

There have been several threads here regarding their shipping issues. I think, for the most part, that you'll get what you ordered, but many have complained about the time it takes...

    Default Prices typically go up.

Working in a purchasing office for a hospital, every new year requires us updating the price we pay for our goods in our computer system. Just the way it is.

A little warning or notifiction would ne nice. Having your knees taken out while in the checkout lane is not nice.
