5th Annual USO Spt Ri(y)de
Remember how Spydergene started his discription of the Missouri Rendezvous? (Spyder Fest US) I quote:
"Here is the story of how it began.
Last year there was a spyder and two wheeler event at Fort Lenard Wood in support of the USO on post".
Well that was last year's ride.
The 5th Annual USO Support ride will take place on 12 June 2010. The ride starts at the Lebanon, MO Ozark Harley Davidson store.
Address is 2300 Industrial Drive, Lebanon, MO 65536.
Kickstands up (or Emrgency Brakes Off) at 1200 (12:00 noon). Cost is $10.00 per bike/$15.00 with passenger. Get there a little early to register and meet new friends. The ride will travel county roads to the Ft. Leonard Wood USO.
We will need to stage at the front gate of Ft Leonard Wood for a quick security check. I am coordinating that, and hope it runs as smoothly as last year.
There were several Spyders at the event last year. Drew quite a bit of attention, as you might immagine.
Riders and passengers will have to comply with certain PPE requirements:
The Army and the Fort have stringent requirements for motorcycle safety.
All riders will be required to wear eye protection, DOT Helmet, long pants, some form of riding gloves, and ankle high foot wear. All military must abide by normal PPE requirements
Yes xpeschon, you will have to wear a shirt.
This is a fun event, supporting a great organization. ALL proceeds are donated to the USO at the end of the ride.
Here is a link to the event flyer. I can also e-mail it if you'd like. Call 573-512-1419, or pm myself or BumbleBee.

Let's see last year we had Spydergene formally BMWGene, Irishtothemax Captainryder, The Pitbull Buggy, Midnighthog, Xpeschon and Mo Lee on Spyders we did the ride as a group within a group and not to brag we seemed to be the stars of the show. The Post General came out to see the Spyder group and speak to a few of us as we were leaving. Afterwards a few of us took another ride to the Lake of the Ozarks for dinner and good conversation around the hotel pool. We had a great time and there is no way I'm going to miss it this year.

Nice, short ride. BumbleBee and I rode the route a couple of weeks ago. Raises money for a great cause. The USO does so much to support the morale of our troops, at home and abroad.

Oh yah, I'm ready.. The best part about this ride is actually the end.. They have a huge ceremony, the Commanding General will normally either ride a bike if he has one (Not sure he is a biker) or will lead from the back seat of a trike,, if he can't make it then he will send a rep.. However, the Post Command Seargeants Major I'm sure will be there on his bike, he is a biker--- I was stationed with him in Fort Campbell many years ago,, so Len as to copy your reply: "Game On"
PS: Maybe if the General is not a biker we can coordinate to put him on the back of a spyder, I'll volunteer ONLY IF the rest of the spyders can be up front with him and I... What do you think GMan, can you make this happen?

Good event---a "must attend" ride
OK ----so here we go again
So what time do I meet up in Cuba for the ride to Lebanon.
Then whats the name of the motel at the Lake. Need to make reservations.
oh yes ----dose it have hair dryers in each room.

Gene---I don't think all of that is going to happen this year, I think its simply a ride, I know I have not made any coordinations for the extra activity that we did last year.. I can tell you this though, possible after everything is all over, (I'm guessing about 2:30-3:00) we can go out on our own un-planned adventure with all the spyders... I'm game though..

I Won't be able to leave town overnight this year however we could tear up this town and maybe do our own ride after the big event.
Joe the General might prefer to ride the Queens RT

Gene;
I will not be able to meet up in Cuba. I will rely on Lee and X to coordinate for any Spyder group meeting and ride to Lebanon. As I am a member of the coordinating committee for this event, I will need to be there early. I have requested the presence of "her highness, the Queen" to accompany me. She will join you all at the Lebanon location, as I will be riding up front. We'll also be game for any after event events.
If you’d like to spend the night here in the beautiful "Waynesvegas" area, the Hampton Inn, St. Robert is about the best.
P.S. They have hair dryers in every room.
