Mods are killing me!
So the powder coating isn't going well apparently for my rims, pegs, peg brackets, and handle bar cover. I called and he told me everything was ruined! I repeated loudly and in disbelief "everything is ruined." He then said he was kidding....ha ha that was funny! Then he said he kept messing everything up, so I'm not sure if he messed my rims up or what, and think maybe they really are ruined! It's been one reason or another I haven't gotten my rims and stuff yet, the date of pick-up keeps changing.
Everything never changes!

Don't scare me...I just purchased another set of rims to have powder coated for my spyder. By the way how much did you pay 2 have the rims coated.

For all three rims and the back wheel hub $250. Somewhere I found a link, after I took my rims to the guy, where powder coating did ruin rims. It had something to do with the heating process, if not done correctly, it could ruin the rims?? I don't know much about it though, but I'm hoping the guy doing mine was kidding!
BTW what all does your avatar say? I can't read the smaller print, but what I can read is funny!

Amanda, I truly hope he was just pulling your leg. I would also be a little concerned if the pick up date kept moving, but perhaps they also have a very good reason for that.
What is the current pick up date they have set, and is it going to give you enough time to make the show?

Control plus (+) enlarges and control minus (-) reduces.

Sure hope these come out good for you. That's a really good price for having 3 rims done. Just had a friend that had 2 of them done and paid $ 350.

From what is going on, that price might not mean too much if he can't do the job properly...I'd sooner pay 350 and get it done right than 250 and have headaches...

Now supposedly it is this Friday. Monday the powersport mechanic is scheduled to come to my house and finish stuff up. The show is not this weekend but the next.

but if he gets it done correctly then I guess the hassle at least saved me a $100.

Here's hoping the sun will come out tomorrow, and you can get your parts.

Disappointed
Wheels are being picked up today and the other parts as well. He didn't do everything he said he would do and increased the price to $375 from a total price of $300 ($250 rims, $50 for the rest). Since he didn't match the sprocket I may be selling these rims, and getting another set so I can have the bike I want. I have to wait until I see them and then I'll decide. He did not ruin them but what a hassle, will not use him again. Apparently, he said it would be easy to get the sprocket to match...but I still don't understand why he didn't do it like he said he would, especially if it is easy to do.

I am very sorry to hear that. Post the pics of what you did get, so the rest of us can see them. I am like you in the regard that I want my Spyder to look the way I want it to, and if I have to do something over from scratch to get it that way then so be it. I will also not go back to someone who does me wrong the first time.
Best of luck getting everything together for the show.

I might have spoken too soon...
Again he pushed back the time, but this time it is only a few hours. Supposedly, this time, his oven broke. I'm really getting tired of the excuses, which at this point are very hard to believe. Since, he is an hour away, my boyfriend os picking them up (boyfriend doesn't want me dealing with the guy anymore). He works for a judge and with several officers so he has talked to them to get advice about what to do in case the stuff is ruined when he goes to pick it up. I hope to goodness that isn't the case though! Maybe I'm wrong and he just has the worst luck of anyone I've ever seen and all will be fine, but the sprocket won't match...ugh!

Supposedly...
The rims are good and ready for pick-up. I am trying to find an auto-body shop that will match the sprocket tomorrow , calling places currently. I also have to get the wheels mounted tomorrow so that it will be ready for Monday because Big O is closed on Sundays.

Rims are a bust
He ruined the rims again. I am going to pick them up in the shape they are in currently. Stinks, $800 rims ruined!

Update...
It was going to be put back to black, now gun metal... Now I'm paying even more, almost $400 and I don't even think he can do the job, but at this point I have no other option unless I just take them back as they are, which is messed up. They may end up being purple or hot pink before the end of this ordeal. I will never have stuff powder coated again, and I think once I get my bike back together no more mods for me!

He ended up pulling it off somehow....
I don't know what went wrong, he is just a very unlucky guy at the moment or I don't know what. But, he was able to pull it off and I am pleased with the results. I've posted pictures in the My mods. section.
