Stock Exhaust - adjustment/baffle?
Hi guys. Just curious to know if there is a way to quiet down the stock exhaust, aside from getting a new pipe?
ie: is there a baffle or other small mod available for the exhaust pipe?
Cheers.

Yeah, sit on Spyder with the engine off.
Seriously, most folks are wanting to make it louder.
The best substitute for brains & knowledge is....................silence.

It is what it is...as they say. It is pretty quiet for a motorcycle, though. Not BMW stealth-bike quiet, but close. All the aftermarket pipes are considerably louder.

Everything is louder than stock. Your bike is a very quiet bike unless your muffler has been gutted. How quiet do you want.......the wind noise is louder at 40 than these bikes?
I guess you could frankenstien some big honking muffler on there but I bet you will lose power and milage. Give it some time, you may grow to like it.

If you want it twin sound...
and keep it quiet too. You might build a twin manifold and put an exhaust on each side. I did this and installed a set of GL1800 mufflers on one of mine. It is quiet and has the twin sound with no loss of power or performance.
Some owners have constructed custom headers and installed various other twin mufflers for a better sound.
Heres a link for you to look at. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...t=twin+headers
Also "atadude" has some good information for duals. I was just looking for his link on the setup he used but I couldn't find it./Ken

Dean, I think I can honestly say you are the first person I have ever heard asking about how to make their machine quieter.

Maybe if he makes it quieter, we won't know he's here

From what I've 'heard' on youtube and the like, I think the stock pipe is pretty good as it is .

We have Hindles on both of our Spyders. That is one of the first changes I needed to make.

I thought my stock exhaust was too loud also.....until I discovered that it wasn't connected correctly. The exhaust manifold where it attaches to the engine was loose. Once the dealer fixed that, the stock was unbelievably quiet.

Thanks for the note on that. My exhaust is fine, no issues and it is NOWHERE near as loud as the big two wheel road cruisers out there, that's for sure! I'm just used to a silenced XT250 engine.
All said and done, from what I've seen/heard the last few days on youtube, etc..., the stock exhaust is pretty quiet, I like it very much in comparison!!
Cheers.
