When it was taken out for the dps swap it was supposed to go back to the engineers at BRP to break it open and see if anything was messed up with it. HDX wasn't going to post about the call until he heard back from them. Still haven't heard anything. So that tells me a) they haven't looked a it yet, b) they looked at it and can't find anything wrong so it could be something else other than the DPS itself or c) the old original DPS never made it back to BRP.

So he gave it time and was going to report on that but hasn't heard anything.

I also heard him ask the question about people whos warrantys expired - if they had a steering problem like others have had, would they cover this w/out the owner paying for it. They didn't give an answer.

He's not trying to bash or crap on anyone. He's trying to get to the bottom of things so I can ride my Spyder again. Riding season is starting soon but with no answers it's not gonna go very far.

If it were HDX or any of my kids on a Spyder I don't think I'd be comfortable with them riding it until I hear back on some things.

Nothing wrong w/ selling it and moving on but some of us, me included, do not own it outright and for what they are now worth, I couldn't sell it if I wanted to.

So I guess that is where all this frustration lies - safety, financially and waiting and waiting.
I was on the call and I heard give them a week. Kurt is the guy that will be looking into it and he just got back from Chile so he needs a little time to get caught up. He will ask for a report and will pass on what they found if anything. At least give the guy the week it asked for to start with before you get too excited.

I'm not getting excited. I'm just saying that when others get upset they get cussed on. When others praise they get applauded.

Is it because people who dont' have problems don't wanna hear them? Is it because we gotta make sure the Spyder doesn't go away cuz many people who ride these things never rode two wheels before or there are other reasons and this is the only thing that's around right now and is available to a broad market of people (meaning people who are off two wheels now (me included) or never rode two wheels?) I really don't think BRP is going anywhere and I don't think the Spyder is going anywhere either. So no worries there. But there are people who have had problems and they would never be heard unless they say something. And, your forum is the place where anyone who goes on the net for Spyder stuff goes. And if the BRP people read it - very cool. And if owners or prospective owners read this - very cool. You should consider yourself the top of the list because this is the only place where things can get discussed. No other forums like this one out there. Good posts and bad included.

Edit to add: Glad Kurt will be looking into this. I will await his response.

    Friends:

Let me say that last year I had a personal experience with Kurt as my bike was one of the first to exhibit issues that were now solved by the now infamous ground wire fix. Kurt, through my dealer sought me out, shared how concerned BRP was ..AND took active steps to advise me every couple of days what they were doing to troubleshoot it and fix it. Fix it they did and I must say I have never had that type of a response from a manufacturer before. So I can share that I personally know how awful this can be as we all go thru this , but you are in very good hands with Kurt who is a rider with us , cares deeply and will get you fixed.

I was thinking the same thing Lamont. There are plenty of threads lamenting the issues of BRP and the DPS. Take this to those threads. My thread was about a good experience.

No one called you a bad guy and I don't think you are. You have some legitimate grips and I too have had my issues. My only issue here is this, take it where it belongs. There must be 7 or 8 threads regarding all the horrible things about BRP and the DPS and steering issues. This thread was my personal experience which I found helpful. It may not be the solution for everyone, but it did make me feel better and that is why I posted it.

I'll just keep my lip zipped from now on, I'm sure that would make the majority of this forum happy. I'll be lurking but that's about it.

Edit to Add: And Deb - I am very happy that you got your Spyder back and it's all fixed and you are riding again (when the snow isn't so bad). And I hope Brian gets his back soon too!

Like Smylinacha, we are financially tied to our Spyders at the moment and, even if there was a comparable option by another manufacturer, we couldn't make a change at this time. Knowing that, we have worked with BRP and our dealer and got some resolution to our problem. Mistakes were made by BRP, the dealer and us (for not trying to get Carlo involved sooner). We are working through them and Carlo and his boss are doing what they can to make us happy again.

Thanks Kim, I am hoping for the day when you feel good riding yours again too. I still think you guys should make a trip to Michigan.

I would think that due to the problems the two of you are having that Carlo and BRP would give you a goodwill gift certificate for some free service or a goodie or two. This would be going beyond the call of duty and would be a very nice gesture...you two have been very positive BRP advocates and have been more than patient...

Unfortunately, this has become an extremely divisive issue. If someone is going to initiate a thread about any of the current 'hot button topics', they should be prepared to hear from all sides. You present your side, someone else counters and presents theirs. Maybe we don't want to hear it, but to say "anyone who posts in my thread has to agree with me", doesn't strike me as being right either.....
I agree that this is a discussion board. I also agree you have some very valid points. But once again as a discussion board, that is why each topic has a separate thread. There are many threads in place where many people have stated their opinion on BRP or the DPS. I am not saying you have to agree with anything, I don't think I was looking for agreement or validation. It is just that so many of these topics go way off of their original intent. Look at this one. What does this current conversation have to do with my phone call. I am not trying to get everyone to love BRP or agree with me. I am trying to figure out why we can never have a thread that is positive? Lou, you have stated on occasion that it bothers you that some of us only want to see positive things or we don't want to discuss the real issues or something to that affect. I am obviously paraphrasing here. But to turn it around. It kind of bothers me that every single positive thread that is posted regarding BRP, you can't leave alone. This goes both ways. No they are not perfect, but I was trying to shine some light on the situation.
