I appreciate your support. Yes I come from a military family as well but I am one of them that served. I tried Fayetteville Tech, I even called the NC Motorcycle Safety lead instructor and he told me that they were looking at starting the 3WBRC in the spring 2013. I tried to go to the MSF on post with my Spyder and was flat out told to not bring it to either the BRC or BRC2. So I have been looking for a 3WBRC all over the state. I even called the Marines because the BRP site said they offered the 3WBRC and the instructor there told me that they pay for the Marines to go to a local college to take the MSF course but they haven't had any want the three wheeled course "yet". My 1SG is a MSF Instructor so he is going to work with me on learning to ride my rig so I can go get my NC M endorsement on my first try. Not even going to get the permit...LOL. And then I am signing up for the MSF BRC at a local college and showing up with my Spyder and seeing what they say...LOL. Can't wait to ride and get out on the road for some weekends away from base. Any advice for gear or items I need to make the ride safe and sound.

You only need that the post requires, for them. For safety, since it's almost impossible to tip our trikes, I really only consider two things to be vital... helmet and safety glasses. All the rest is cosmetic, since we don't have to worry about dump and slide we don't really need the boots to protect against a muffler burn on a dump, don't have to worry about road rash so the heavy jeans and protective jacket aren't vital, IMHO. Gloves are really more to keep your hands warm in winter, and they will ease your hands of callouses if you ride a lot. If you replace the wimpy exhaust with something nice, or even if you do a lot of highway driving you will probably want ear plugs. Obviously you also want a rain suit for when you get caught in bad weather.

Keith I already signed up for Patriot Guard with SFC Maurer (He's in my unit). The 3WBRC is the MSF 3 Wheeled Basic Riders Course. I have the Manual from MSF but no one in NC offers the course yet. The head of the NC Motorcycle Safety Organization said they were 7 trikes shy of having enough to teach the course in NC and they are working on getting them and having the course available in the spring of 2013. I don't want to park my rig off post ad drive my car to it to ride it. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take a two wheeled MSF course just so I can ride on post and park my rig at my house...LOL As to the safety gear, if the army requires it I have to wear it all the time regardless of what can or cannot happen on a Spyder. If I don't and something does happen then I will not have Military benefits for my family or medical bills. It's the price I pay for being a Soldier. I'm just looking forward to riding when I get back. I already have a place to practice and store my rig until I get my MSF Card.
