    Default Is it Zumo time???

So, looking for some opinions here. I currently use my phone on a handlebar mount with Rever or maybe Waze. I don't use BRP Connect (or Go or whatever it is now). The big issue I have is seeing the phone screen with the glare from sunlight. The boss is suggesting a Zumo, but it's a fair chunk of money, so I have a few questions.

Will using a Zumo eliminate the glare issue?
Can I use Rever with the Zumo for turn-by-turn directions?
If there is a specific destination punched into the Zumo, and we go off route, will it guide me from wherever I am to that destination, or will it try to direct me back to where I left the original route first?
Is the screen clearer than a phone screen?
How does it handle not having cell service?
    Any wiring or installation issues?
    Does it work with gloves?
    Integrate with the Cardo systems?
    Connect to Spotify?

SO I'm wondering if it actually does this, do I need my phone at all except for calls....

    Anyway, thanks for your patience....

Love my Zumo and have used it for years.

Will using a Zumo eliminate the glare issue?
    - nothing is perfect, but I've never had any issue.

Can I use Rever with the Zumo for turn-by-turn directions?
    - yes, you can export from Rever and import to Zumo

If there is a specific destination punched into the Zumo, and we go off route, will it guide me from wherever I am to that destination, or will it try to direct me back to where I left
    the original route first?
    - It will try to direct you to your next shaping point or destination. Not to the point at which you left the route. You can also tell it to skip the next point if you wish.

Is the screen clearer than a phone screen?
    - Hard to answer. Depends on your phone, phone size, etc. It's certainly equal to any modern smart phone screen IMHO.

How does it handle not having cell service?
    - It's a GPS. It uses the global satellite system, not cellular networks.

    Any wiring or installation issues?
    - No, and at least my 22 RT includes a dedicated plug just waiting to power a GPS.

    Does it work with gloves?
    - Yes, perfectly.

    Integrate with the Cardo systems?
    - Yes

    Connect to Spotify?
    - Never tried. It will pair to your phone though, and play whatever is playing there. I use Pandora, so Spotify should work the same I'd guess.

Also... the Zumo "Adventurous Routing" is pretty cool. As is the option to just auto-create a route "north" for 2 hours or x miles, or whatever and return to the start point.

I have a Zumo XT. A friend of mine with a 3D printer, made a sun shade that clips on, and works great. I am pleased with the product.

I have a Zumo 595 and a XT The XT is much better in bright sunlight. The 595 is designed to work directly with Spotify and Pandora. The XT will play anything on my phone to my 21 RTL via Bluetooth. Both should be used with Basecamp on a computer for creating routes and managing waypoints

Mike, Two2Three has answered your questions perfectly, but I am just curious. Why do you want to use Rever for turn by turn directions when that functionality is already built in to the XT?

All the above are true. A couple more advantage of a Zumo over the phone is Zumo is waterproof. Phones overheat in the sun and can be shaken to death. Save your phone for PHONE CALLS and let the Zumo be your workhorse on the road.

Yes very true! And I’ve had it in the rain for multiple days in a row with no issues.

I have a Zumo XT and it is very easy to 99 percent of the time. I have a Pixel 6 smartphone that goes in a mount also. The Zumo XT does a better job of given speed limit info and alerts for schools, speed cams, radar traps etc etc. I have had my smart phone overheat once or twice. I do like how easy it is to send goodge maps route to the phone, jump the trike and head out, but I am going to keep the Zumo turned on also. I play my music to Cardo helmet intercom from the Zumo XT. The Zumo XT work with a gloved hand where the smart phone will not.

Hi Pete, I am asking simply because I am not familiar with the Zumo at all, but I am with Rever, so I was thinking about creating a route in Rever and importing it into the Zumo. I know my question didn't make that clear, but that's what I think I am thinking.

I have Zumo mounts on both of our bikes and transfer the Zumo back and fourth between the bikes. My Cardo has two blue tooth links; one to my phone and the other to the Zumo.
LaMonster has this wiring harness that makes installation a bit easier.

    A few other quick points,

If you are using a headset and paired with the Zumo and your phone, you can make and receive calls from your GPS, It shows incoming calls on the Zumo screen along with the ability to pull up your contact list from your phone for outgoing calls.

You can add a SD memory card to the GPS and store a ton of music/audio files to listen to in the event you are outside of cell coverage.

The Zumo has some nice features that keep you updated on upcoming traffic, weather, school zones, red light camaras and a bunch of other features to long to list.

Download the users manual on their site for all the info

    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?pa...00&tab=manuals

I have ACP and AA on my Goldwing and the Zumo is still my first go to device when traveling.

Like Troop stated The XT and XT2 are currently $100 off on almost all sites. I ordered a second unit for our new STS because who knows when Can Am will get their ACP update released.

    Just a small additional point.
I also have a Zumo XT installed on my 2020 RT Limited.
I'm happy that you had no issues with wiring your Zumo. On my 2020 RT, the plug you indicate was wired backwards. The Zumo would not charge from the bike power.
The solution was right out of Star Trek. Scotty had to "reverse the polarity". This required a little surgery on the wires. I chose to modify the wires on my Zumo.
In the end, you wind up with the black wire from the Zumo connecting to the red wire from the Spyder, and again red from the Zumo to the black on the Spyder.
This problem was happening on the 2020 and some of the earlier models.
Sounds like BRP got it right for you on your 2022. Well done!

    https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...ght=gps+wiring

As to the glare issue, I have the BRP mount that allows you to adjust the angle of view to the GPS. If the sun is glaring, I just change the angle of view a little up or down. A ram mount should allow the same flexibility.

This free advice comes to you complete with my standard double your money back guarantee.
