I just checked the Tire Rack's website and discovered that the RIKEN Raptor in 215/60-15 is NOW selling for $ 50.00 less than than either the Quatrac or Altimax RT45 ..... .... That's a serious discount .... I still LOVE my Riken after 8000 mi. ..... Mike

Yes it does, but doesn't really effect traction ..... and it's been tested using a Spyder RT ... for those that think that matters .... Mike

I was not thinking the 4 pounds more were a problem. Thread depth is almost the same, so the extra weight must be in the carcass, that is "built a bit stronger"!

Interesting that both of these have a UTOG (tread hardness)rating of over 500 were as the Vredestein Quatrac has a rating of 400.
I will stick with the Vredestein Quatrac as the softer compound provides better traction, and I still get 30,000 miles on the rear.

The difference between 400 & 500 is not really significant...... the " UTOG " numbers can be mis-leading .... I have seen many tires with LOWER UTOG numbers that don't have the Wet & Dry traction of the Raptor or Vredestein's ...... Mike

Being 77 myself I understand exactly what you are saying. One thing I like about getting older is that I worry less about what others think of me and my macho image means nothing.
