The snake, a juvenile Eastern Brown is the more Dangerous; the spider is much like your Black Widow, they call them Redbacks here it can make a adult very sick and will kill a child.

“More dangerous”, 3Tyme? Both the snake and the redback can kill you, so they are both “dangerously venomous”. We Aussies try to avoid being bitten by either of them …….and it’s easier to avoid the brown snake as they want nothing to do with you as they see you as a predator, not food, and will head in the other direction unless they feel threatened. The redback, on the other hand, can be found under toilet seats where you are not expecting them, and see your backside as a threat and will bite. Ouch

If I ever get to visit, I'll be very cautious of toilet seats.

But I don't care HOW MANY you collect or WHAT you marinate them in, the snakes will STILL taste better than the Spiders!

Yeah, but don't be fooled - you might not feel it WHEN it bites, but it won't take long before you REALLY feel it!!

We run on the metric system here (like most of the rest of the World ) so a speed of 45 kph (kilometres per hour) isn't anywhere near fast enough... Come to that, neither is 45 miles per hour, cos the Big Red Roos, those big aggro buggas that can stand up on their hind legs, draw themselves up to over 6ft tall so they can look down their noses at you (and grin with their pretty savage teeth right in your face!!) the Roos that are often built well enough to make Hulk Hogan look a tad anemic, they can fairly easily do that sorta speed; and if they catch you, they'll try to grab you with those dirty great claws on the ends of their front paws, pull you in close, prop themselves up on their tails and then rip you open from chin to crutch with the claws on their back legs that are about 5 times as big as those on their front paws!!

That's a part of the reason we don't usually drive that slow out bush! Well, that and the fact that you'd never get anywhere when the gap between servo's is maybe 300+ km and the next big town is over 1000 km away! Mind you, there's the Perenti Goannas to worry about too; they aren't real fast, only about 40 kph, but they do grow up to about 8 to 10ft long, they're one of largest living Monitor Lizards on Earth; and of course, there's always the snakes - King Browns, Red-bellied Blacks, Tiger snakes, and more; pretty much all deadly and it doesn't really matter what type they are, they just don't care if you're on a motorbike or even in a car, cos as far as they're concerned, you come too near or piss them off, then you're fair game!

But has anyone told you about our Drop Bears.... https://www.australiangeographic.com...ts-study-says/

Ahhhhhh, but then you run the risk of hitting one of our mobile speed humps, Mikey. Hitting a wombat is like hitting a 2’ tall, solid concrete, speed hump. There is not much left of your front end, but you are usually saved as you are catapulted from the bike to land 100metres down the highway, at which stage, the wombat, who has not been injured in the accident, will head down toward you lying on the road to “express his displeasure” at your action.

p.s. Everything Peter has said above is true…….we Aussies never exaggerate about our wildlife, unless it is on a day ending in “y”.

While I was on leave riding from Brisbane to South Australia, I was following a semi across the hay plain on a Honda Bold'or 900, when all of a sudden, the driver ahead suddenly locked everything up and then quickly exited the semi when I stopped, the driver pointed to a Big Red Roo in the cabin of the semi! He hit it while it was trying to jump over the front of the Prime mover and it went through the windscreen, then proceeded to demolish the inside of the cabin! The Roo eventually got out and hopped off, never to be seen again. As it was night, I think the Roo was trying to steal the truck as it was carrying beer...

I got attacked just like that guy in the picture. I was riding along the Bruce Highway, when I rode past a redbelly black and zap he went for me. He almost got me, but I pulled my leg up and out of the way.
