    Thumbs down

Those bolts will not fit down into the hole. The spark plug holes are less than 8mm and the bolts are much larger than that.
Baja Ron offers (https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...rs-amp-Helmets) and most people use the NGK CR7EIX Iridium which has a thread diameter of 10mm https://www.sparkplug-crossreference...eter%3A%2010mm

This has been an interesting subject to say the least. The moderators are wanting to keep this site friendly to all. There is no reason to trade barbs back and forth. There are a couple other sites out there where the "wise guys" rule. Rather than being user friendly, they are not helpful to Spyder owners in general. You can even find a few people who have been banned from this site for just such behavior.

Let's keep it informative and save the "wise guy" barbs for other sites. Thanking you all in advance.

Regardless of where you get an engine, you REALLY NEED to keep your existing Engine Control, Transmission Control, and Dash/Console Modules unless you also change pretty much the rest of the bike!! Your Control Modules are tailored to the Spyder you have - it's not too hard to use BUDS to re-programme them to accept a different engine, probably not even necessary at all if you only change the short motor and stay with the same SE6 gearbox type; but it'll be a SERIOUS PAIN if not completely impossible to make work if you happen to get & install an ECM, a TCM, or a dash/console that comes off a Spyder with a different rear sprocket - and given the year & model of your existing Spyder, that's a pretty high risk!!

So sure, get a new/replacement engine/trans assembly if that's the way you want to go, but I'd suggest that you DO NOT use any other ECM, TCM, or Dash/Console module without making sure that EVERYTHING else between your bike & the donor bike is identical!

Ps: And unless you want to open up yet another absolutely steaming can of worms, it'll be a whole lot easier to do an engine swap if you get another SE6 - unless it's absolutely unavoidable, you really don't want to try to graft in all the semi-auto clutch & shifter arrangements!

If I am looking directly at the gear box on a Spyder, is there a way to tell the difference between the manual and semi-automatic?

i am looking for engines on ebay and they are all 1330's but the gear box looks different and there nothing in the description of the engine that tells me if its manual or semi.

Hello Scott, I have found this so interesting. As I have mentioned earlier, I believe that you got a steal if the price was right for the to start with, even if you have to go through a bit of pain now. So when you get it sorted out and running you will have a good machine; the only thing that makes me cringe is the tow bar on your F3S that I have seen in the picture, as I don't believe they are suited to tow, unlike the F3T or RT's which have that ability, but as I mentioned that's just my opinion.

Check out Bert Remington's recommendation back in post #9 - He's put in the effort, gone out of his way to help you in researching this, and found that engine. It is out of a 2016 F3 with an 89T rear sprocket like yours, so as far as we can see, it should be a direct replacement for your current engine without any ECM, TCM, or Dash/Console mis-match issues...

    Just sayin'

Actually all Spyders can tow with no problem, they were designed from the beginning to be able to tow unlike all other motorcycles and trikes. Although many of them do and very successfully. If you don't want to tow that is fine but it will do it.

    Great info, thanks!

I would never need to tow, so off it comes.

Will do. Can't wait but it may be a week or two.
