'16 RTS Rear Trunk Lid STUCK in closed position. Solution???

OK...new thread here. I've found several threads here focusing on this problem. It seems the advice offered thus far works on SOME RTs.
For some reason the '16 is different?? I know this is undoubtedly the most creative, problem-solving group of Ryders on the planet. So...

I think if you get down underneath that lever you may be able to see where that cable is attached to the handle and hook on to it and give it a push with a screwdriver. Good luck

Sadly, the cable was broken...so....out came the hammers and physically removed the old latch & replaced with a new one. The solution suggested using screwdriver inserted in left latch did NOT have any effect on my '16. Again thanks to all for the suggestions and kind thoughts....yes, it was a PITA, but all is well now.
