Default First sled ride for this season, Fernie, BC

We drove down from Edmonton to Fernie, about a 6 hr. drive and spent 3 days riding their trails. The trails were groomed but icy(marginal new snow). We saw a few families and at least 50 machines on the trails. First 2 days were 80km/50m each as we didn't know the area.

The last day Dec 29th was a bonus day (my 75th birthday) we dropped off at Corbin, BC and rode trails and creek beds S, some were groomed but the last half were haul roads that hadn't been plowed and only a few old sled tracks (1' settled base) with about 6" of powder so we got to play a bit. This was the longest ride I have done on a sled 165.3 km/100 miles round trip.We drove S until the haul roads ended and we reached the Cdn/USA border. This is not a marked trail so we were doing some exploring. As soon as we stopped to take pictures on the Cdn. side which is unmanned the border patrol showed up on the South Side, so they knew we were coming before we stopped at the sign. We returned to the trucks with 2 bars of gasoline left on the guage.

We ride cutlines where we break our own trail, ride lakes etc. and previously used to drive to the mountains for some mountain sledding. After New Years we will go up to the lake for some ice riding with a little snow.

This is my winter Spyder if you are wondering why I posted on the Spyder forum. Enjoy the scenery and Happy New Year.

I am glad that you had a chance to ride in Fernie, BC on your sled.

Here in the North East part of USA we don't have any snow, and the snowmobile trails are still closed.

I hope we get a snow storm soon (I am also a snowmobile owner).

For many years it was the biggest truck in the world. I went by it several years ago while motorcycle touring. It's huge, but I think you're right..... bigger ones now
