Yes You Can - Brake Fluid Replacement
I just finished the last phase of my 12k mile service - Replacing the brake fluid. I will add my voice to the few others who have posted and said you do not need the BUDS to do it. It is like any other brake bleed with a few Spyder specific variations. The variations are spelled out in the shop manual. If you are really paranoid about throwing a code, like I am, just be sure and tie off the microswitch down by the brake pedal so it can't be tripped by excessive pedal travel while you are pumping the brake fluid out.

Can I assume that using a MityVac will negate the problem of depressing the brake pedal?

It's a vacuum pump....suck the fluid out through the bleeder screws.

Lots of youtube instruction sites---search the web--it available everywhere

Start out by siphoning all old brake fluid from Master cylinder & refill with clean dot 4--don't let master cycl reservoir go dry while bleeding or else air will get sucked back in.
CAUTION: Dripping brake fluid on paint will eat-destroy the paint faster than anything else I have in my garage----cover the reservoir fender with some quality non saturable material for several layers of cloth towels
