Default Strange coolant problem - fans continuously cycling. Any suggestions?

    2015 RTL 37k miles
Fans come on immediately on cold start and then go off and on continuously running a few seconds each time. Check engine light is on. Temperature quickly goes to half but does not overheat. Coolant was changed at 28k mile service.
    Thermostat or sensor?
    TIA

With cold start on my 2015 RTL, (37k miles) fans immediately come on as well as the check engine light. The fans continuously go off and on running just a few seconds each time. The temperature immediately goes to half but does not overheat. Coolant was changed at the 28k mile service.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA

Did this start immediately after the coolant change? If so, suspect air pockets trapped in the system.

No codes. Coolant change was many miles ago.

    ?? Fan direction

The fans continuously go off and on running just a few seconds each time.
Which direction are the fans blowing air?

Did you recently pressure wash or otherwise heavily douse your Spyder with water?

And then there's always the battery condition question...

Have you got triple digit temperatures out there today? Had 98 degrees here, this afternoon, and my fans ran more often than they normally do. They were coming on more, but it was at low speeds. Takes more air to keep it cool when it is around 100 degrees out.

Has never been pressured washed and battery is new. Would not think fans would come on until temperature reaches max, not at cold start.

Try pressure testing the radiator cap. If you don't have the tester to do it, most of the Auto Parts places will test it for free.

It really sounds like an air pocket but seeing that it was many miles ago and IF the coolant level is correct etc etc, then I vote for a bad sensor as well...

You could always just verify there is no air by using the bleeder on the front of the block and a clear hose. Drain into a catch device and have it cracked open at startup to see if anything purges out and go from there... I posted pics up in another thread if you search by my username you can see where the bleeder is...

When I did my coolant change my fans did the same thing as you describe. EVEN AFTER running it to temp and topping off. It didn't clear up til I bled via the bleeder...

    Try again!

dbaucum -- I'll try this again: Which direction are the fans blowing?

The reason for asking is you may have a sticky relay problem and this information would help isolate the specific relay.
