Thanks!!!! Please keep us in your prayers during this very stressful and devastating time. There are 2 cities that have started to "clean up"( 1 of the cities is the Capital which is Montpelier, and the other city is Barre which is only 13 miles away from the Capital) They have brought in extra water rescue crews from The Carolina's and FEMA is in the State and there are other resources here also. They have activated The Vermont National Guard. **** They are forecasting more Rain on Thursday and Friday, which we don't need!*** The Governor will be touring the state.

The current temp is 71 degrees, and sunny, NOT RAINING!

The places/states that need rain we can send you some!!!

I am safe, I am not "Land Locked" yet. I am still able to travel on roads that are still open and are damaged. In my area there are 2 towns that are still under water. Rescue crews and etc.are doing there best to help them. There are two major roads thru those two towns that are still closed due to the flood. Yes, I hope so. Starting tomorrow and going into next week they are forecasting more rain!!!!!! The ground is already saturated.

The flooding that we have is deviating & worse then the 1927 flood. In the City of Montpelier ( which is the Capital) the water rose to 5 feet.

..So glad you are doing well. I have never experienced a flooding. I have seen many sites that have been flooded in person. Really not a situation people need. Praying that you and others will make it through this event of weather.

Meanwhile.... Here are the high/low temperatures in the desert S.W. for today and the next 6 days:
114/92, 117/93, 119/92, 118/93, 116/92, 116/93, 115/93. . We could sure use some of that rain you're seeing in Vermont, Deanna. If my count is correct, the greater Phoenix area has not seen any measurable precipitation for 112 days now. Excessive heat warnings stay in effect with no end in sight. The water heater for our community pool has not been in operation for a couple months. But the water keeps getting warmer. They do operate aerators at night to try to cool it but these day time temperatures just make it warmer and warmer. . Sure wish we could share some of this dry, warm weather with those of you who need it. Stay safe..... Jim

They are also forecasting more dangerous weather today from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm ( we could get more rain, hail, high winds, and even a tornadoes) The state has been pre-positioning swift water rescue teams ahead of the dangerous weather although they are not likely to see the kind of flooding as earlier in the week. As of now there has been no fatalities so far from the storm. Today, and Friday and Sunday are expected to bring additional threats of flash flooding to the areas where rivers are high and the ground is already saturated. The governor urged Vemonters to remain viglant. They are still keeping a close on eye on 3 ( Manger )dams.

Everybody thinks about the heat and the humidity in Mississippi and forgets that mother nature tries to blow us away, drown us, or burn us up at least a few times per year.

Vermont up-date ..... there were 82 State Highways that were affected ( ie. closures ) as of now, they estimate hundreds of town roads had major wash-outs !!!! .... My best friend who lives back in the woods on a mountain lost almost all of His steep driveway..... and there isn't any Gravel available to repair it ..... luckily He has a four wheel drive tractor with Canadian Chains ( ie. logging chains ).....PS thanks to the many members who have PM'd me with their concerns, my property wasn't directly affected, but the nearby area's were .. A happy Friday to you. Currently we have cloudy skies and 62°F. I have not received any rain for quite some time, kind of lost track.
No rain in today's forecast.

High today of 90°F with lots of sunshine and humidity. The rain yesterday went to the south of our house, some 100 miles worth.
Low at 67°F.
Still sending prayers for the 'Flood Zone People'.

As of today The Governor said that has been 1 Fatality due to the flooding.

Also, yesterday afternoon & evening the weather was very active with wide spread strong to severe thunderstorms and many reports of wind damage. There was also some hail, and even a couple of funnel clouds, one in St. Lawrence County of New York,and the other was near Blueknight911( Mike). However, they did not reach the ground and form into actual tornadoes.

In the southern part of Vermont 2 of the counties got hit again last night by severe storms. There was a wave of strong thunderstorms that rolled through the region Thursday night that caused upwards of 18,000 power outages but avoided any major flooding, according to the state officials.

Thousands of Vermonters were forced to take shelter after a tornado warning, but no tornadoes reportedly touched down in the state. A town near the Western part of Vermont was the epicenter of some of the worse weather. Residents that spoke to the local news channel said that they weren't worried about the flooding from the rain as they were about the wind. A store owner said that he and his family- as well as some of the employees -hid in a basement. A tree fell near a house and a road near the City Hall flooded but most of the damage was minor. They were very fortunate that we still have all of the houses.

There is more rain expected Sunday but National Weather Service officials say it is not likely to cause the kind of flooding seen earlier this week. Vermont ANR officials said Thursday they do not think that 1 of the dams ( There 3 dams in the state that they have been keeping on very close eye on) will likely to breach the its spillway Water level at the dam on Tuesday morning was 684 feet. As of this morning it was 681 feet.

They have closed some streets in the capital ( Montpelier) to allow emergency response clean-up,and only volunteers and emergency responders will be permitted to enter and pass through these areas until further notice.

They still have swift water rescue teams from other states here.

They also have several shelters open in the state for people.

The president approved major disaster declaration for Vt. flooding.

Also, dozens of the Vermont National Guard soldiers are on the ground helping where they can.

With masks and gloves ready Vt. flood volunteers show up in force. Cities and towns across Vermont are mucking out, mopping up, and cleaning sludge from their homes and businesses.

We are Vermont Strong!

Highs today will be in the 70's and low 80's. Next week is looking drier! We can send some of this rain to anyone who needs it!!

Last night around 10:30 Pm we had thunderstorms.

Today it is sunny and temps in the low 80's. Nice day for cleaning up after the flood.

Sunday is a different kind of story, they are forecasting more rain, & thunderstorms thru Monday.

Here in the desert, we are seeing daytime highs above 110 and nighttime lows right at 90 for the foreseeable future. My neighbor's daughter was here for a few days to take care of some business for her mother. Before she left, she told me she was going to strangle the next person who said to her "but it's a dry heat"! Four days here did her in. She was very glad to head back up north. This heat does take some getting used to. And caution too. It's very dangerous, especially for us older folks. The first thing I do every morning is pour myself a great big cup of ice water. It's with me all day and gets refilled several times throughout the day.

News reports now are saying the all-time high temperature for Earth may be broken in Death Valley this weekend. I can't imagine that kind of heat! Stay safe..... Jim

We'd sure welcome that! Unfortunately, too many people do not heed warnings about how the heat can quickly overcome. I just read about people flocking to Death Valley to experience the potential record high temperature. A lot of people will lose their lives in this heat. I'm staying inside and praying my air conditioner keeps working...... Stay safe and dry. Jim

It is HOTTTT out here in the desert for sure. The temp on my patio around 6 was 118. It is currently 125 in death valley. This week will be a little cooler though. I have to take my spyder in to Henderson Nv for the brake light recall this coming Friday. It's about 1 1/4 hrs drive. Only will be 110. Lots of stops and hydration OR postpone the appointment.

It was beyond hot riding the interstates today, at times the air temp on SLEDGE said 115° that was the highest I saw.

I had a woman in South Caroline ask me if it was hot wearing a jacket, I said it's hotter without one and you dehydrate faster.

Every stop was a 50/50 mix of water and Gatorade, I drank 124 oz o that mixture.

I'm tired,,, but I feel good, time for bed.

I have found that a cooling vest works well for the length of time of your ride. Not expensive and keeps your core body temperature down. Something you may want to look into. Good luck..... Jim

Today, here in Vermont, we had thunder showers. The current temp is 77 degree, muggy.

The rest of this week they are forecasting rain. Also, we will have some dry days, which we need.
