    Default Family Laundry

Lately, the numbers of "guests" exceed the numbers of "members" 170/100.
What can we do to bring to light this "guest" from the shadows?
Why not upgrade the SpyderLovers membership to a "platinum" level? A second site where we wash laundry in the family.
In order to achieve this level, one needs to collect 10 SpyderLovers referrals (family, friends, meet and great and so). Like that everybody knows that they own a Spyder. Same referral rule is applicable to BRP employees, service managers, mechanics, etc. without the ownership but disclosing who/where are they. Just my HO.

What purpose would that serve? How do curious/prospective Spyder owners get educated? I was a guest and read this entire forum before purchasing my Spyder. I own a Spyder, but couldn't get 10 referrals if I had to.

Here's an idea and it could help Lamonster w/ his site support - we can make a platinum level but in order to get in, you need to contribute a small money amount - let's say $25.

Other than that, you have the normal forums but most people I find that join stuff like this and stay on for a while, are willing to pay for more.

Maybe have some different folders for Platinum members - not sure what but on one of my premium forums which I pay to use, I get access to some folders such as sick jokes, political views, as for Spyder stuff, I don't have any ideas but I'm sure some will chime in.

Could be way off base here and it could be something nobody wants but just sayin that I do belong to a forum (Women Riders) that does this. And I've become pretty close with the people who are in there. Been on it for 5 yrs now.

Edit to add: I think Spyder Talk does this - something called Spyder Nation - but I do not know what is in there.

And yes there is a discussion area that is only available to "club members" and they highlight your user/avatar area that you are a member. Enough 007 for the night. Smilinacha

I would be more then willing to pay some money for a membership because spyderlovers IS worth it. How about paying members/platinum members actually get to post whereas all other can just read postings.

You forgot this pic of her ------

    Spyder #1 - 2008 GS SM5 Premier Edition #1977. RIP after 80,000 miles.
    Spyder #2 - 2012 RT SM5. Traded in after 24,000 miles.
    Spyder #3 - 2015 F3 SM6. Put 13,000 miles on and sold it.
    Spyder #4 - 2017 F3 SM6. Too good of a deal to pass up!

Okay -- so back on topic...

A more 'private' club for actual owners?

    Interesting idea.

What's the main goal Doc? Keeping the noobs and possible trolls away?

Maybe an OWNER only folder - that others can read-only??

To me - the Spyder Nation idea seemed a bit too 'corporate'.

I don't see the need for a pay section of SpyderLovers unless Lamonster needed help with funds. It's not like we get hundreds of spammers or trolls posting here. IMO a Spyder Elite section takes away from what the site was built for.

Doc, the idea sounds good, though I am not sure how it would all work out.

I like the idea "knowing" that I am reading or discussing something with a real Spyder owner or "stakeholder", as they call them now-days. In some cases, it takes a while to figure out the real goldmines of information and experience and those who are just blowing smoke.
I also like the idea of encouraging the people who are just reading to participate, as I like hearing fresh thoughts, perspectives and questions.
It does get tiresome seeing the same question started over and over again that has been discussed several times - in the last week - in multiple threads. Lots of new members do tend to ask the same/common questions and miss using the forum Search tool.
I don't care much for creating a "Special" group with certain privileges, no matter if they can dance on tables in kilts. As it is, SpyderLovers is a very inclusive group and I would hate to see that change. While some of us know and/or see other members on one basis or another, when forums get too cliquish, they tend to get off track - keeping things focused on the Spyder riding experience and community is where the real value of this site excels.

Like others have said, I would be happy to buy a membership here - small payback for all the value and smiles I have gotten. Maybe that would come with a Vendor Discount, the ability to rate a posting, or something . . . .

Overall, I would hate to see anything happen that would cut back on the activity and traffic to this site - let alone, all the experiences that get shared.

    Just my thoughts.
