Default Anyone removed their Engine covers (2021 RTL) & left it exposed? Any downsides?

Im kind of old school and realizing that a bike (imo) should be proud of its engine.
    So...
Has anyone removed their engine covers (2021 RTL) and left the engine exposed?
and if so - were there any downsides?

and if so - are there any "dress up" parts to pretty up the engine?

I think in hindsight - I should have gotten a F3 Limited. But...
    I didn't.
So now I am looking at my options.

Wraps/lights till you like it more. Removing panels long term might invite few weather issues on RT **might** would have a beer or more conversation with a trusted tech of possibilities sealing whatever (if any)sensitive parts with F3 Variant. Meanwhile enjoy the more storage, it may spoil you.

I'd be happy with either, but the F3 just fits me better (I came from riding Harleys all my life)

I've had every panel off my 2020 RTL; IMO, there is no way to make it look good. Wrap it, repaint it, ...whatever it takes; enjoy the fact you don't have to endure the heat that comes off an F3. The F3 owners I've talked to say they need boots & long pants (of some kind); I can ride in sneakers and shorts, if I want.

Formosa AZ01 165/50/R16's on PPA Recluse wheels up front
General Altimax RT43 215/60/R15 on factory rear

Primary exhaust: RLS Cat delete w/ his baffle; secondary, custom built w/ Flowmaster HS2
Suspension: BajaRon swaybar (highly recommended!), M2 coil-overs, front & rear (also highly recomended!)
Extra LED lighting and misc. to suit my needs/wants

What heat off the F3? I am an AGATT rider but I could wear shorts/tennis shoes without any heat issues.

    Default Very Interesting Topic

I had my plastic covers off and didn't like the look.
I guess I should have taken the RTL for a little Ryde.

    I didn't, so I don't have a clue about a heat issue.

Not sure who you are talking to, but I don't have a heat problem on my F3 and I live in Arizona.

Honestly, an RT gets ugly real quick when you remove panels. Underneath their skin they are a workhorse. Nothing sexy about it. On the outside they are a full figured sexy tricycle.

Me too. There might perhaps be a bit more heat down at the foot level, but I'm not aware of excessive heat higher up. Been on way home lately in couple of 90F days.

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are trying to make it look better. I have to say, good luck. I don't think they look all that bad. But if you are trying to reduce the heat on the legs, feet and crotch. Remove the plastic splash panels underneath. That will give the hot air (now trapped under the Tupperware) somewhere to go besides on you. I removed mine early on and have had zero issues. Most motorcycles have full open access to the engine without issue.

It also makes oil changes much easier and less messy.

The next step is to wrap the exhaust from the head back to the collector with exhaust wrap. That will give you another level of heat reduction.

Get a stock of good earplugs!

My F3T would cook my right ankle on a longish ride until I replaced cat converter.
