Default Spyder finally out of shop, but just got hit doh!

Finally got my yellow SM5 out of the shop, ( had a bad DPS) and it was running fantastic. In fact, left Florida on Monday morning, spent the day tearing up Blue Ridge mountain here in NC...amazing ride, and was going to do the Tail of the Dragons tomorrow, but another biker (Harley) came up too fast behind me, not paying attention, and slammed into my right side. Tore up my right fender, popped the tire and trashed the wheel and some electronics.

Poor guy on the Harley totally wrecked his bike, broke 5 ribs and some other minor injuries. Fortunetly I was on the Spyder...the 3 wheels kept me balanced and ALIVE.

I think the closest dealership to me is Smith Powersports in Hayseville, does anyone have experiance with these guys?
Guess I will have it towed there and really hoping it can be fixed in 1 day...maybe someone can put a good word in there for me, lol.

Just wanted to say glad you are ok, and that the other guy is alive still. No clue about your question though.

+1 The closest I've been to an accident on my Spyder was last year during the Spyders in the Smokies event. A bike rider coming from the opposite direction misjudged his speed in a turn and crossed over into my lane missing me on the left by inches, passing in front of the Spyder behind me (almost a head on collision) and then he passed a couple of Spyders on the right hand side before he finally came to a stop.

Dang! I expect that kind of poor judgment from cagers, but not bikers!

I'm glad you are both OK. Hope you get your Spyder back soon.

Number One: 2008 Yellow GS SM5. I love my Spyder.
Number Two: 2012 RT-S Limited (the poop colored RT) I still have Number One, but Some Girl made me buy Number Two...

And yet another accident that validates one of the reasons I bought my Spyder.

That is a real shame! You just can't snooze no matter what you're riding. Glad you came out in good shape.

Hope they get your Spyder patched up quickly.

Few years ago I was sitting on my Honda Valkyrie Tourer waiting in line to get into the Grand Canyon. The guy behind me was on a Goldwing, talking on his cell phone, in gear. He thought he was in neutral and let the clutch out.

Great low end on that bike and it didn't die. He was juggling the cell in his right hand, had his helmet ballanced on the tank infront of him and lost his grip on the left handlebar when the bike lurched forward. It was not good.

Luckily he managed to veer just enough to smack my right bag as he went by. Not expecting it, it was all I could do to keep from falling over.

You'd think it would be safe just waiting in line!
