Pull on the trunk release cable. If you don't have a trunk popper spring installed, you may have to have someone pull up on the trunk lid gently while you pull on the cable. There are some threads that describe an "Emergency Trunk Release" mod. Might be a good idea for the future.

These latches just keep the honest people honest anyway. Better if a determined thief knows how to get in with less damage.

Were you able to get it open? I tried earlier today when I was trying to install a trunk release. Didn't have much luck pulling on the factory cable. It actually looks like you are pulling on the sheathing with not much movement of the cable.

I'd prefer if nobody know how to get in...a determined thief might read boards to learn about how to get into the trunks...that way it's always easy...

Eh, whatever, if someone wants in, they'll get in...

for a thief, it will be easier to tear off the the "locked trunk" than bother to remove the left panel

Agreed - a long screwdriver or prybar will be in the trunk in 3 seconds.

along with the stock release I added electric switch so I could open the trunk without turning off the engine. That's great as long as I don't lock my keys in the trunk. I had a standard chock cable setting around so I installed it along with the other releases. Ran it down and around installed it on the top control are cover left side. Spray painted it flat black. Only one person notice it. And ask about. He is a BRP representative.

Got a ride home, came on this thread and found this post. Ran back to my Spyder and within 20 seconds, popped the trunk. LOL
    Thanks

When my bike key slipped out of my hand just as I was closing the frunk.......I was in deep do-do. I young man riding with us has a medium length small screwdriver and he slid it in at the top of the frunk where it latches and popped the frunk open. Relief and yes, I now carry both keys with me.

I called my dealer and his response was "well, if you can get the bike back here to the dealership we will look at it" REALLY??? If I could have towed it somewhere it would to my house where there was another key..........jerk

Then there was the one about the Blonde Woman who pushed the ONSTAR button in her car. They asked her what was wrong. She said "Can you please help me. Somehow I locked myself INSIDE my car. My keys are on the ground I can see them through my window."

Have a spare key made and carry it on you or maybe secured somewhere on the bike. It won't start the bike but will open the saddle bags and either trunk. When we're traveling 2-up my wife and I both carriy one. Hopefully, we won't both do something stupid at the same time.

A good argument for carrying that spare key all the time. I have been doing it since the 1960's when I locked my keys in the car once. Never happened to me since.
