Potholes - if you HAVE to hit one, which wheel??

Ok, I know potholes should be avoided, but if you HAVE to hit one - with which wheel?

I'd hit it with rear tire.

However Kicks like a mule. If possible aim to put Them under. Foot pegs/floorboards. Less potential for over correction & manages to miss tires

. If you can't steer to miss it entirely, then try to steer so that you put that pothole under one side foot peg/floorboard, ie. just miss said pothole between the inside edge of one of the front steer tires and the corresponding outside edge of the rear tire, then you should probably try to hit it with the rear tire!!

Why is this so, you ask?!?
Unless you've done some substantial mods to your Spyder:

• you've likely got a bigger tire fitted up the back than you do on the front;
• it's also likely the strongest tire on your Spyder (especially if it's an auto tire & NOT an OE Spec Kenda! );
• there's more volume of air inside the rear tire which will help absorb some of the shock load imposed by hitting a pothole (especially IF your auto tire is running 16-18 psi & so isn't over-inflated for the load the Spyder imposes! );
• it's mounted on the more robust/heavier rear swing arm suspension & so isn't as likely to damage any of the smaller/lighter front end steering & suspension components &/or more expensive power steering components; and besides,
• the rear tire's NOT one of your 'critical to safety & stopping' front steer tires, so if it does blow as a result of hitting said pothole, you should still be able to steer your Spyder safely to a stop!

X's 5 ..... especially about not damaging suspension OR Alignment ...... My last Lazer alignment was done 6 years ago and based on Tire wear, it's still spot -on ...... Mike

NONE.... don't hit pot holes your Spyder does not like pot holes.
