Potholes - if you HAVE to hit one, which wheel??
Ok, I know potholes should be avoided, but if you HAVE to hit one - with which wheel?

I'd hit it with rear tire.

Why is this so, you ask?!?
Unless you've done some substantial mods to your Spyder:
- you've likely got a bigger tire fitted up the back than you do on the front;
- it's also likely the strongest tire on your Spyder (especially if it's an auto tire & NOT an OE Spec Kenda! );
- there's more volume of air inside the rear tire which will help absorb some of the shock load imposed by hitting a pothole (especially IF your auto tire is running 16-18 psi & so isn't over-inflated for the load the Spyder imposes! );
- it's mounted on the more robust/heavier rear swing arm suspension & so isn't as likely to damage any of the smaller/lighter front end steering & suspension components &/or more expensive power steering components; and besides,
- the rear tire's NOT one of your 'critical to safety & stopping' front steer tires, so if it does blow as a result of hitting said pothole, you should still be able to steer your Spyder safely to a stop!
X's 5 ..... especially about not damaging suspension OR Alignment ...... My last Lazer alignment was done 6 years ago and based on Tire wear, it's still spot -on ...... Mike

What’s a pothole? Our mayor says we don’t have any. I don’t think she rides a motorcycle.

Come to New Jersey for a crash course in potholes. I think they were invented here.
