DIY hand guards for my 2018 F3s

Cut to length and bend in jig, round off ends, drill holes and paint. Spacer was a 1" hockey puck drilled out with a hole saw. Hardware used was button head M6 x 20mm on the end of the handle bar and M4 x 60mm thru the spacer. Haven't tried them yet because there is still snow on the ground but they are only 2" wide so they don't block the mirrors sight, but should block rocks or other road debrie.

Look to close to the handle bar grip for safe use, and not tall enough to really help with cold wind on ones hands.

Probably would deflect a cicada, though! We're due for a big hatch this year in upstate New York. Man, those things hurt when you smack into 'em while you're riding!

I love to see these DIY workarounds. Money saved and the satisfaction of a job well done.

20210304_080812.jpg Sometimes pictures can be deceiving so I measured it showing 1 3/8" opening. Don't know if that would be unsafe but my gloved hand fits with room to spare. I'll find out when I take it out this spring. I couldn't make them any taller because that would block the view of the mirrors but should shield your hands from taking a direct hit.

Over the winter I made another set of hand guards making them wider (3") and alittle farther away from the hand grip.
Doesn't hit the windshield and doesn't appear to block the mirror. Can't wait to try them when it warm's up.
