Touring Model
Had a long visit with my dealer today and I'm sure that it is no suprise that the 2010 Spyder will have a touring model. Will officially be shown next month; However some advanced info has been released to some dealers concerning floor displays, and the like. The touring model is essentually just a accessorized version of the Spyder as we know it. IMHO

Thanks for the scoop!
Maybe dissapointing to some, but is not a bad idea if they focus on fixing the remaining base model issues before they do radical changes

Yeah a really EXPENSIVE accessorized version of it! No thanks, keeping mine and doing my own mods.

Number One: 2008 Yellow GS SM5. I love my Spyder.
Number Two: 2012 RT-S Limited (the poop colored RT) I still have Number One, but Some Girl made me buy Number Two...

I heard there will be two new models.
An amphibious versus that is offered in pink and a 3X3 shaft drive with a 12 inch lift kit with mud tires in Real tree camo.

. . . . in Texas, in a heartbeat. I have seen them do "Stretch Limo" Tractors.
Some thoughts should never be mentioned, they just might happen.

Here is what my best educated guesses are:
Blue is now a color.
Floorboards
Rear trunk (Intregal , not givis) (SEE GOLDWING)
Rear Bags (Intregal , not givis)
Handlebars will be pullback (aka Goldwing)
Still belt drive
A sound system and cb
Chromed lights (similar to the position our optional fog lights are in)
Windshield is electrically adjustable
Instrument pod is new and extends way higher than ours
Seat is way different than even the new touring seat , huge step to passenger seat, clearly defining driver , passenger
Nose is stubbier and perhaps shorter
Entire "girth" of the front of the machine is bigger while retaining same footprint.
Engine cowls are wider and taller
What will hide under the larger engine cowls is what I just don't know. no reason to make them bigger unless there is a bigger motor. (OH BRP God bring us the bigger 1200 Rotax that you have in your secret cave....)
Price point low to mid 20's.
Our Spyder should see a new 800 or 650cc twin "sport" version price pointed at 11-12k
Lets see how close I get....
That's cheating if you're going by the photo I posted months ago, and I know you are.

I'll tell you what... That would be GREAT if they get a model out that a lot less expensive.
Heck, I don't need 990cc's anyway! LOL!

While most would really like more power--- I think too many have complained about the gas mileage--- by the very nature of 'touring' they may want increased MPG----so I'm not sure about a larger engine.
I would love more power-- and would sacrifice MPG to get it! 1200, 1500, 1800 would be GREAT.
The marketing photo was really cool--- but I'm not giving up my PE !
As far as less expensive---- considering you can get a new 2008 SM5 right now for $11,300 - or a 2008 SE5 for $ 11,600 --- I just don't think you'll see them any cheaper.

What is really interesting is that how many peole that "interview" me about the Spyder can t believe that it is only $17 to $20K...
Price point for these folk are thinking much higher..say mid $20s .....

My dealer said it will be between 26 and 28 with 3 models and he did say adjustable bars and windshield. He named a few other things but i can't remember.

You could get better mileage out of a bigger engine if it produced power at lower RPM. That would lend itself more towards touring than our race bike motor.
