Guessing you mean skipping the mode button some have disabled the dess. I think removes that sequence from the start up, however :lecturef_smilie does remove one of security features allowing easier theft

Disabling the DESS does not eliminate the start up procedure, only eliminates the chipped key reading. To eliminate the start up I think you have to do the ECU update.

Pressing another button to start my RTL doesn't bother me. What I do not like is waiting for the electronics system to get ready. Why does it take that long? For the glow plugs to get warm up?

No the long wait is the computer booting up. Glow plugs are in diesel engines, not gas engines.

Have you tried pressing the Mode button BEFORE the procedure is complete?

On our '17 RT-S, we turn the key ON, press the MODE button, press the START button in rather quick sequence. Once you are comfortable that there is enough oil pressure or if you want it to warm up for a few seconds, you can put it in gear, release the brake and drive off.

If you do these all in quick sequence, you can be moving in about the same time that the computer will be telling you that you can continue with the start sequence.

I turn the key on when I approach the bike. No harm in letting it sit there for even 5 minutes while putting on gear.

Sorry I was wrong about glow plugs.
I have done some researching and what I have found is very interesting. According to some technical service manuals that were circulated inside BRP only, applicable only to Spyders sold in other countries outside of Canada, when you turn on the ignition key, the computer of course will have to initialize and then use Google to translate from Canadian French to local user language. For example, my 2013 RTL takes that long to complete the booting up procedure because it takes that long to translate from Canadian French to American English.
Also for those countries that do not use Latin alphabets for their written language it will take up to 4 minutes for the Spyder to complete the computer boot up sequence. That is why there are not many Spyders sold in China or Japan or India and such.
I just deal with the starting procedure for now until I can find a way to embed English in my Spyder as default language.
    Cheers.

Maybe you could just set your dash language to Canadian French instead?? Altho I do think that at least the older/pre-2017 Canadian Spyders still have that 'wait for the message then press mode & start' delay built in?!

Still, even tho I've had my Spyder's ECU Upgrade done, I'm one of those who practices turning the key on, finishes getting my helmet & gloves etc all buttoned up, climbs aboard, presses mode, & then starts the engine before ryding off... altho admittedly, sometimes I might actually get to start the engine immediately BEFORE I climb aboard! Regardless, having that Mode thing or not has really made ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE in the overall scheme of things as to how long it takes me to walk outta the house with my gear in hand & what time elapses before I actually hit the road

I tried it on my '14 - I don't have to wait for the screen to finish booting to start up. Turn key, press mode, press start and it fires right up.

I hope you didn’t pay extra for that “feature”, bluewoo, because “turn key, hit mode, hit start” is standard on the 2015 and later models

No, I never had it flashed. Other owners have had the ecu re flashed and it's also an option to remove the "press mode" button on start up.

Open this and read it where it states Quick start.....https://bc5ea35f-0a76-4e03-8a52-544a...cf24549946.pdf
