Because they don't know what they are talking about. A '16 or '17 has many features the later models don't. I added Cubby lights to my '16 and I could set it to recognize the new lights without going into HyperFlash. There are more "features" they deleted from the '18+. My '16 had only one problem, there was a bad seal that leaked oil (because the first ride I took with is was with a bunch of Harley guys ). Once that got fixed (I ain't gonna jinx it).

You won’t find many on this site who would say they are unreliable or not worth buying as this is Spyderlovers.com! In 17 the DPS (dynamic power steering) was changed but I don’t think there were many other changes. If one has an extended warranty I would go for that.

I can't wait to get one love the looks of them, trying to sell my bike now to put down on one, something about leaning into the curve on a 2 wheel bike makes me nervous I can't get past that

Would you consider the f3-T over the f3-S and what's the difference between the f3-T and f3-L also I heard at the higher cruising speeds you can't hear the radio really is that true in your case

The L has the rear trunk, heated grips for the driver and the passenger and some other things. I believe there was a change in the rear sprocket from 2016 to 2017. My wife's 2017 runs about 500 rpm lower than mine at 65 in 6th gear.

Get Yourself One!
Have a RT and love it. Haven't had any real problems with it. I've ridden to Nova Scotia and North Dakota on it. No problems. People always admire it and ask about it. Get it, it will make you happy.

I have owned six Spyders since they came out in 2008. I got the first one sold to a customer in Alaska. 160,000 total miles later, and currently two in the stable, and no major problems with any of them...I say don't get excited about the bad stuff you hear.
There are Rolls Royces out there that are lemons.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.
Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)
MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles
IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.

Soon as I sell my 2 wheel bike I'm gonna get one can't wait, it's good to hear from others that have experience on them I've only seen 2 around here where I live so wasn't sure about them, I just know I love the looks of them, I've been wanting to test ride one but they're not doing it here yet but I did actually sit on a f3 limited which was very comfortable

I don't think the trunk came standard until 2017. It was an option for the 2016.
