Installed an Elka rear shock and Can Am saddle bag brackets on the '22 F3S.

Took an hour at most. Remove rear under-plastics, loosen nuts on shock bolts, lift spyder until bolts come out, remove shock... reverse of all of that (with the addition of some hardware for the saddle bag brackets). Easy peasy.

Now if it would just warm up so I can ride and get to adjusting the shock damping and preload.

If it ever warms up here in the northeast, I'll put my top case lights on. She's still on the tender until the weather breaks. Hopefully in a couple of weeks.

Added a Show Chrome Flag Mast and installed a new trumpet horn both from CanAm Spyder accessories
The horn install was easy, no extra electrical required. Great video for the install from CanAm Spyder Accessories.

Today, I added the larger brake pedal and a cell phone/GPS mount with USB and 12volt outlets from SlingMods to my 2020 RT-L. Tomorrow, I'm adding arm rests!

It’s a beautiful day for an afternoon ride in SE Pennsylvania today. Took rural roads “up north” of Allentown, PA and made a big loop. We did 178 miles for the day. The gas gauge now reads empty and the “mile to empty” display is all dashes. I’ll fill the bike up tomorrow and see how big the reserve is in gallons. The wife is not amused with my experiment on far can you go on a single fill up and still make it home.

    Addition to post:
Went to fill up the bike this morning. I could see fuel in the tank before filling. I put in 5.973 US gallons. For the day we averaged 30mpg riding 2 up in hilly terrain with an average speed of about 45 mph. For the last 17 fill ups we average 35.2 mpg. Bike ran like a champ yesterday. Need to watch the next few fill ups to make sure we don't have a problem. We rolled over 2800 miles since we got the bike last July.

There IS NO RESERVE on these things, just like there's no Reserve in your car!!
And running them too close to Empty WILL damage expensive things in a way that starts the irreversible & gradual demise of your injection system and/or fuel pump!!

So your wife is quite right not to be amused, you NEED to keep a MINIMUM of at least a few litres of gas in the tank or you ARE going to be damaging things, even if you don't realise it yet!!

So even running them down to empty JUST ONCE is not a great idea But running them PAST Empty, unless your very life depends on it, well... that's just ....

    Sorry -

Normally I fill up when I have an indicated 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank left. There may not be a true "reserve" compartment on these bike but they do have a "live bottom". When the display reads empty on my 2022 RT there is still over a gallon (US) of fuel left. We ride out in the boonies and when route planning I need to know how far I can go on a tank. Right now that appears to be between 162 and 192 miles based on terrain and speed. So when the display says "Low Fuel" it means we have a bit over a gallon of fuel left or approximately 35 miles.

That amount of fuel left in the tank after the gauge reaches 'Empty' is by design - it's intended to keep you, the operator, from running the remaining gas level too low for it to do its job properly! IIRC there's even a warning in the glovebox manual about NOT running it much past that level where you tell us you normally re-fill!

The reason for that thing you're calling a "Live bottom" is not only so that you don't run the gas tank dry, but also so that you ALWAYS have enough gas left in the tank for all the reasons I stated earlier - you REALLY NEED to keep sufficient fuel in the bottom of the tank to keep the fuel pump fully immersed & therefore properly lubricated AND for there to always be sufficient fuel around it to disperse the heat generated by its operation. Funnily enough, it turns out that on our Spyders, the amount of fuel required to do that properly pretty much all the time is getting up there fairly close to about a gallon!!

So yeah, you have gas left in your tank once the gauge reaches 'Empty'; and yeah, if you're not concerned about damaging expensive & difficult to repair things in your Spyder that are crucial to its running well, you can use that gas to go a little bit further.... But once you run the gas level down that low in the tank, all the microscopic crud & water type contaminants that DO end up in your tank become more concentrated and some WILL start getting sucked in past the filter &/or start clogging the filter up, further restricting the necessary fuel flow; the increasingly insufficient level of gas remaining in the tank WILL allow those important bits to overheat/fail to be lubricated properly simply because the gas level remaining isn't sufficient to disperse all the heat, further compounded by the slightly but increasingly restricted flow rates; and you WILL be causing damage to those expensive &/or difficult to repair/replace components that work to very fine tolerances - so even if you do think you got away with it, the damage caused is inevitable if you run the fuel level that low; it's initially microscopic; it's irreversible; and once started, it is cumulative and it gradually continues to get worse over time as the pump continues to rotate thru normal operating and gradually/over time rips itself apart, getting less & less efficient as the damage you've caused grows & grows until it eventually fails!

2024 F3-S --- Only two fill-ups at this time BUT, with one bar left on the "Fuel Gauge" I can put 6.4-5 Gal of gas in. While still new, it gets 32 mpg. Will have to continue to track fuel usage, milage, and amount to fill to get a full knowledge of how it will be.

I put the RLS Crusher and Lamonster cat delete with a baffle in each on my '22 F3L. I really like the way it sounds now. Loud but not obnoxious.

Put on the new signal button and shifter pad from frogmamdave.

They have since been tested on a little 25 mile Ryde. They are even better than I imagined.

I'm sure ya'll are tired of me posting the same thing, but I really enjoy riding the TN Portion of Hwy 421 ( The Snake). I rode it today, and had lunch there and watched all the bikes. I met Richard from Mountain City TN, and we talked bikes and cars for 40 minutes. It was a beautiful sunny day 78° but windy. What can I say. I love riding the F3S in the twisty's. I don't care for interstate travel unless I must. The F3S doesn't care for it either. It does however love the mountains. I'm so blessed to live in a place that has great roads. Particularly for motorcycles .

Finally out of hibernation/long maintenance time. Sorted out the coolant leak, oil change, mirror magnets, general clean, and inspection while the Tupperware was removed. Out for a short jaunt and all is well right now.

Baldwin Iron Works Cat Delete pipe. Took me all of 15 min or less to install. No lift needed. The spring tool is plenty stout. The sound is awesome. I did not use the supplied baffle.

The Spyder is finally out of hibernation.

I took a ride yesterday, it is nice to be back in the saddle again for the motorcycle season.

I also washed it, with Chemical Guys Waterless wash.

Added some Velcro in the back of the trunk to hold items( water bottle, & etc).

I haven't gotten the girl out yet, but at some point this week I have to because I have to get an inspection. However, when I get her out this week, I'm going to install the new top case lights, and a new USB switch in the empty spot on my switch panel; if the part comes in this week. Was going to buy the dock station but I think this will work as well.

The harness is an additional option and currently on slingmods site it's $40.75.

I'm going to post pics or a short video when I'm done installing them.

Just so that you know, that switch may or may not fit correctly. If it does not, then take the blank and cut it out so the switch will fit snugly into it, install the blank then install the switch into into the bike.
Thats what I had to do with mine, but it is not like yours.
