No it's lefty loosey , but BRP has cornered the market as far as LokTite use is concerned …. a 7mm socket gripped with vice grips will get it off …. First I would put a bit of " thread breaker " like PB blaster …. and let it sit overnight.... then use the socket with vise grips..... after you get it off clean that crap off. outside and inside , and just use a small star washer, your reception might get better now also ….. good luck … Mike ……..PS it's always a good idea to say what Spyder you are working on
If you get any movement in the threaded stud holding the aerial keep moving it back and forth to build heat in thread locker. It will eventually let go from heat generated. It is blue Loktite so it will come off. Take your time. I did away with the whip and used a stubby. No need for holes!
Hi folks, 2013 RTL.
Went to take the antenna off to put a cover on and Mark the place for the hole.
Won't budge!
It's not a backwards take off is it?
Use a 7mm socket to remove the antenna.

Two cats, just a rubber cover. Once that comes off, the fun begins.
Thanks for all of the replies.
I'll get some PB Bladter, let that soak in until next weekend, then run the 7mm sockets down the antenna, and get it off.
Then replace with a stubby!
Y'all are awesome!
Walmart used to have the shorties for about $10. They do work just fine.
I had the opposite problem. No Locktite, and the antenna fell off. I used the shorty until a new replacement came in. It was on "their" dime...so I went back to OEM.

You can always park a little close to the garage door, hit the button, and a broken antenna will be on the floor in the morning! The stub comes out with a7mm socket.

^^ Yep, that'll do it!
Or you could just hang a small flag off the top of the OE Antenna & go for a ryde It really won't take too long for the antenna (& flag) to just disappear leaving that stub that you can take out with a (deep) 7mm socket!
More'n just the one way to skin this particular cat!
Thank God I didn't have to go threw all of that to change out mine! The only thing I would not do is put the Loctite on the treads! The cleaner you can keep the surface and threads the better your radio will work, if there's a shoulder on the mating pieces put a star washer on there! Good Luck!!

I have that T-shirt!

Isn't it weird that in AMERICA our flag and our culture offend so many people...... but our benefits don't?
