    Default Mirror Extension Challenge

I went to install the KewlMetal extensions today and ran into a problem. The instructions says that there is enough slack in the wiring to add the pieces...nope! I can extract maybe, a half an inch. Here's my question..."can I get into the console without taking it off"? If not, I'm not sure how to take it apart. Any experience, tips, etc. would be appreciated.

You should remove the console. There are a couple of plastic clips that keep the wires in place. If you look on top of the dash where the safety card is and pull it out (as if you were to read it) you will notice two small holes. In order to get to them, I removed the windshield (easier for me). If you insert a small screwdriver onto those small wholes being carefull, slide it down behind the console. It will pop out very easily. You will quickly notice the turn signal wires. Remove them from the clips, get the slack you need, mount the estensions and put it back together. (30 minute install)

If you have a small bent screwdriver you can do the same thing, without removing the windshield. Me I did not want to damage mine.

    Good luck

Yeah those black plastic bolt covers don't reinstall because Kewlmetal failed to machine that little groove that is on the stock arm ends. $131 for the extensions and they leave a necessary groove off? I also notice a lot more wind buffeting and movement blur in the mirrors since I moved them out where they don't give me a perfect picture of my shoulder and are somewhat usefull. I kind of liked them where they were in the stock position for night driving as rear headlight glare was blocked by my shoulders! Bill

    Bill,

I thought the whole idea was to see around your shoulders...I thought the stock mirrors were useless...I use the extensions and now my mirrors are actually functional...

Sure, there is a bit of vibration at high speed/rpms, but the extensions are a big plus...just really tighten them up...they can take a good amount of it...
