I like the idea about the cones when using auto spaces for parking.

If I ever get my F3-S which was ordered three months ago, I will park it as I do my car. Out toward the far end of the parking lot, in a car spot, where there are no other cars around. A little walk to the store is good for ya.

Place the cone at the edge of the sparking space so it is visible even before the other car driver turns into the space because they couldn't see the spyder between two larger cars.

Could be our "spacing" is bigger out here! I'll park in whatever is available. Sometime MC sometimes Car. If wife is with me, Car as they have Handicapped spots.

Like most have already posted, the MC parking spots are usually too small for the Spyder. So I park in a safe place when I stop. .....

Thankfully, I have not had issues with strangers messing with things, but just in case:

If I'm riding my Spyder, I usually avoid parking in MC designated places, because
1) I don't consider my Spyder a motorcycle, in the traditional sense of the word, and
2) When I ride my Harley 2-wheeler and attempt to pull into a MC designated spot only to be blocked by a big-ass Spyder, I get a bit annoyed. I wouldn't want to be an annoyance to other 2-wheelers who deserve their spot.
My opinion.
