Congrats.....Come on down. The weather is perfect for riding. In the 70s during the day and cooling to the 50s at night. Usually like this for the next several months. Rain.....we don't get no stinkin' rain..... This is the desert.

Yep, that is what the Buffalo Soldiers told me when they wanted me to ride with them last August. Then I got a text from one of them saying that they had to delay their leave time for the ride home. It was 116 and they were having a sand storm. Not my type of riding.

Yeah, August in the desert is hot, but it's a tradeoff. The northern states have their three months of freezing temperatures and snow and ice whereas we have our three months of heat. Summer riding in the Southwest is entirely possible if you get an early start, wear cooling vests, and keep moving. What you want to avoid is sitting at stop lights in the middle of the afternoon. We did a ride last summer where it was 114 degrees on the way home. We used cooling cloths and were fine. And if the heat is unbearable, you can always take your Spyder to higher elevations where it is cooler. Mount Charleston is 45 minutes from our house and temperatures there are usually 30 degrees cooler than they are here in Las Vegas. And of course the other nine months of the year are just about perfect riding weather with almost no chance of rain.
