Might have found a bug in the DPS warning...........
Not sure about this only one time it happened. I am on a trip running tank to tank. The last tank I ran it down quite a ways past (close to 15 miles) the fuel warning light. I knew where I was going and no problem getting there. BUT in the mean time the "Check DPS" warning came on with the ! mark in the bottom left corner. I pulled into the gas station as planned and the steering was a bit hard. Turned off the bike, refueled and went on down the road. Never saw that message again and the steering is no problem 700 miles later.
Just a fluke? Just a one time glitch? Maybe with the fuel being so low it crossed over and said........"Now try to steer it also"......
Anyone with anything close to the same?? BTW I now have 3538 miles on the bike......
Thanks.....

Oh well....
Glitch no doubt. Many of the systems on these machines have their moments. If it clears and things go back to normal your good. DPS uses a lot of electrics and you could check to make sure all your battery connections, fuses and relays and ground connections are good.

It must be something in the atmosphere. I am on a trip as well and on Tuesday about 450 miles into the day the check engine and dps lights came on. No power steering and a weird P0650 code. Got gas and all was well for the rest of the day. Shortly after getting on the road yesterday same issue. Stopped for gas and all was well again and for the rest of our short day -280 miles.
I also have the “brushless power steering” like your 18 has. Stayed tuned.
