    Default 2018 Helmet sound

Traded my 2016 Spyder RT for a 2018 RT, could here radio on headset with the 2016 RT, can not get the radio to work with headset on the 2018 RT. I have the can-am helmet with N-Com headset. Have paired the helmet with the bike but no sound from radio, any idea what I'm doing wrong? Radio works with speakers. Very confusing.

Sounds like another new dash "bug" that will need to be addressed with an update. Either the bike or the helmet if possible contact makers of both, see who will attempt a solution

This is BRP's big screw up ,You can not connect to the bikes radio ,it just can not be done .You have to use your cell phone for music. I am using a freecom head set a get radio through it.

    1. FM radio and Auxiliary audio input can only play through the Spyder's speaker system. They cannot output to the headset.
    2. See other related posts on this forum re. the BRP Connect app and/ or Advanced Gauge Cluster.

FWIW: my 2009 Ford pickup radio works better with my phone via bluetooth than the Advanced Gauge Cluster. 9 year old technology that works. We have one more visit to get their system fixed; if that fails, we will pursue 'lemon law' filing.

I had the Sena (sold by BRP) dongle installed on my 2013 RT, and it played the radio through my Cardo G9, albeit with inadequate volume. My dealer moved the dongle to my 2014 RT, but I have yet to try it with my new Cardo Packtalk. Anybody have any experience with this combo?

Anyone with this problem should be complaining to their dealer, BRP and to anyone else who will listen.......long and loud and often.

Not completely true. You can add the SENA SR10 module to a 2018 just like the older models. Then any sound on the speakers is also sent to headset. A toggle switch can be used to turn the speakers off so only the headset is used. You then pair the headset to the SENA module and not to BRP Connect. You can also pair to your phone for calls.

This sort of work around should not be needed but BRP shipped this half baked system and has not fixed it. It was obvious they had no idea how their riders use electronics on the bike. They would have been FAR ahead to have integrated an known system into the bike like other OEMs are going to but, no they had to reinvent the wheel and do not have the resources to do so.

    Default Sena SR10

I'm intrigued by your post. I've wanted to listen to the FM radio through the headsets ever since I bought my '18 RTL. I'm somewhat familiar with the SR10 and understand how you would connect a GPS (for example) to it and then through the bluetooth connection be able to hear voice instructions. The BRP radio however is built in with no cable to connect to the SR10. How would you make it work?

And how would you turn off ALL of the speakers with a single switch ?

It takes a bit if wiring. Speaker leads to a 4 pole toggle switch. Front left and right tied to the SR10 which can be set for high level input (speaker level). This actually how the generic module is used in other applications.

That would leave at least 2 of the speaker outputs OPEN.
Hope that doesn't hurt the amp any.

Leaving the speaker outputs open causes no harm to an amp. shorting them on the other hand.....

    That is quite wrong.
It depends on the design of the amp.
Some will be a problem running open for long periods and some won't.

Typically a really cheap one will have a problem; a well designed one won't.

Ran my 2013 RT that way for years. Its a simple solid state amp that will not over volt if unloaded. No harm to the output transistors at all. I have set up a few this way and they work fine. Would not have posted this if I did not know it to work. I actually work on these bikes, not guessing.

If it really makes you feel better, use the fader control and shut the extra two channels off. The rear channels on the F3T are left open ended from the factory and are not connected unless the top case is added.

    Perfect.
Many "shade tree" mods are not made with that degree of knowledge involved.
