    Default Rear Rack.....

.......for 2013 RSS. I have the OEM one, but it is so small and doesn't have any good attachment points for bungee cords. I was wondering what others might have done, besides put a rear trunk on with a rack mounted on top. Searched, but didn't find anything that worked.

Well if your talking about the sports rack, you just didn't search well lol ;p here are few I found & shared across the years. Best-worst, diy person may chime in: IMG_3264.JPGIMG_3263.JPG
Note the mount goes under seat: IMG_3262.jpg
This 1 is drilled & bolted to grab rails¿ (see the rust): IMG_2316.jpg
Unfortunately discontinued & unavailable why it's bottom of list:

Thanks, yes I did see the first 2, but not the second 2 you posted.
I'm not a do it yerselfer, because of Parkinson's
I was looking for something that maybe someone found the could bolt up to the sports rear rack (have a dealer that really helps me out).
Probably is something out there, I'll just keep looking.

Thanks for posting that one Bfromla, I had been looking for an alternative to the sports rack which are stupidly expensive here. Hadn't thought of making one myself but that base would be a good starting point.

Np glad to help. FYI that still used the rack & just replaced the lid Ive found sports racks on eBay $100.us. or so usually not the color I want. Not too bad a thing if you can powdercoat. This vid shows more of why the base is needed

I bought a Besteem 929 46 litre top box and used the plate to attach to the rear back rest plate, It cost me about $100 for the box and wired it to the brake lights, works great. Drilled four holes and used rubber seals to waterproof the whole this. Cut 1 inch plastic rod and drilled the bolt hole through the middle
Done all of Canada except NWT and parts of Australia, New Zealand and areas of Europe

Unfortunately none of them ship to NZ, checked a few times but will keep an eye out. Last time I asked a dealer here they wanted NZ$1400 (US$960) for the rack and lid

Yes I do know a machinist. Was there today to show him what I needed. Have a appointment to have him install my new rack on Thursday.
Sometimes I need a kick in the butt! Will post pictures when the rack is installed.

    Default Rear rack, again

Now have a rack, that works for me. Exactly what I was looking for. My brother has a motorcycle painting business and small machine shop, he made it work.
