    Default Stranded in Orlando

On a trip - started as a nice way to reconnect with some old friends. Then... the bike stopped running. The starter turns the motor over but there’s either no spark or no fuel. And of course it’s Sunday, so my options are few.

Does anyone have any easy things to try (limited tools), or a great dealer near Wildwood, FL?

Kill switch on is “unskilled” position, fresh gas in the tank, battery is good.

Being in Wildwood, do not go to RideNow Ocala, you need to use Central Florida Powersports.

Are you on FB? You might try and message Kenny Butler for ideas, but realize, being Sunday, it is his day off from CFPS.

Try the WOT *Wide Open Throttle)
    Ignition ON
Twist and hold throttle Wide Open
    Crank Engine
    Release Throttle
    Try restarting without opening throttle.

Good luck and let us know if it works. Central FL Motor Sports I read has an excellent shop, but getting to Kissimmee from Wildwood, that's a job right there.

Default Check fuses in left fuse box

The left fuse box is on your right when facing front of bike(fuse box closest to thumb shifter). Pay close attention to fuse 6 and 8. They are for ignition coils and fuel pump. Hope that helps.

    that's a bit confusing
the bike, like a person, has one left side and one right side-
the fuse box is on the left side of the bike, no matter which way you look at the bike
your left arm is on your left side, no matter which way someone looks at you

Good suggestion. But they are not open on Sunday OR Monday.

Any chance that the battery is weak ? Might want to charge it for a while to see if that might help......if you can.

How fresh IS the gas ? If it stopped running real soon after a fill-up, then the quality of the gas would be suspect.

To the original poster, I hope your having success in getting underway and I apologize in advance for using your thread to respond below.

    Jack:

And the need for your punctuation of an exclamation point? I fail to understand how yelling at me for missing something in the original posters comment either helps him or anyone else reading this post.

This goes right in line with the post Lamont put up a few days ago regarding posters like you Jack. You are often quick to comment on others for something you perceive in a negative way. It does nothing to further the conversations and often keeps people from wanting to take part in any of the conversation.

If you haven’t already, please add me to your block list, I obviously am not in the caliber of people you wish to correspond with civily.

Yeah Jack, this guy has a problem, someone trying to help and you're screwing around with semantics. I'm sort of a newbie here, but man, you need to get a grip.

Guys, get over the punctuation thing. His reply is solid if you notice his quote from someone else he replied to.

The suggestion about checking the red kill switch. The original topic indicated the engine cranks but would not fire. If the kill switch is in the engine off position, the engine will not crank.

I hope the guy got it fired up, but the replies asking to be blocked seems silly and overreacting because you are fired up.

Although it would have been MUCH better to state what you did in the sentence above, the comments about posting style are WAY more disruptive.

Some of you had better be careful ASSuming what the owner will take offense at.
It might end up being YOU.

why does a simple question regarding a problem have to downgrade into an argument and calling out posters for what amounts to nothing?
It certainly adds nothing to the thread and provides absolutely no help to the OP.

    Come on people.
Answer the question without slamming someone else.
You want to give help or just bitch about something?

There are many, many of us here who are tired of it.

    Default Fuses???

Check those fuses carefully. I had a cracked fuse in one of my older cars---- very hard to spot. Also had a chaffed wire on my old 66 mustang -- would blow a fuse when the key was turned. ( finally found it though.)

    Good luck.

Lots of great suggestions, none have paid off (gas was a few hours old, fuses were good but I replaced them anyway).

But it now gets more interesting. I went to start it this morning and it fired right up like nothing had ever happened. I took a chance and rode it to the prison I was visiting (old friend is incarcerated). It behaved perfectly.

Went to start it again this afternoon and it would crank. I ended up having to tow it back to the hotel because no place near here will accept bikes on Sundays.

SHort term plan - if it starts in the morning, I’m heading straight back home stopping only for gas but will not shut down the motor. If it won’t crank, I’ll have to have it towed to a dealer, fly home, and try to talk the hotel into letting me park my little trailer somewhere.

Yup, that's interesting. The only thing I can think of is a relay is sticking. That could cause an intermittent problem like that. Now the question is, which relay would it be. You can swap one relay for another. I would pick a relay that is used for something like high beam headlights or suspension and swap it for another and see what happens. Go through all relays until it starts. Hope its that easy. Good luck.
