Exclamation My Adventure(the good, bad and indifferent) from west Texas to North East Tennessee.

We left west Texas on June the 15th for Tennessee. We and stay the first night at my father-in laws. We made our treck across Arkansas to Winchester, TN. Bike did well for the most part. Stayed in Winchester from the 17th to the 23rd. I am getting an P0550 fault code (DPS). Dymanic Power Steering. The steering gets hard to turn with no assistant. If I stop and shut the engine off, it will reset the code and all is good. I talked to a Spyder service dept, and it seems to be a problem. There was 3 other ones that same week. If I sent the bike to him, he would have to diagnose the problem, and sent the problem up the BRP flag pole. He said it would take 3 to 4 days to gwt the $1000 part to replace, if it doesn't get held up in customs. And it would take a whole day just to strip apart to front end of the bike to replace it. So unfortunately I don't have time to leave it, cause this is my only transportation. I will have to deal with it when i get back home. Still have trouble with the Bluetooth on the bike. Sometimes it wont connect to my helment or my wife's and vise versa. My dealer back home still as of yet, have the firmware update for the bike. Other than that, the bike runs great.

    Default Problem

You might want to check your battery. I'm told when it gets weak it starts shutting down less important uses, such as power steering.

    Default That's messed up

A brand new, 2018 bike and it already needs a $1,000.00 repair.

    Default Little checking.....

The DPS is the biggest electrical draw on the spyder. (all of them) and a weak battery or faulty connection can cause this kind of problem. I seem to have seen some spyders of late that have had loose ground strap connection but regardless start there...

Always check the connections to the battery! This will cause random electrical issues! I'm always surprised how easy it can loosen over time.
