A while back I posted about problems during a test ride - had control issues due to two-wheel habits. As several folks suggested, the BRP-sponsored "Learn to Ride" course was a huge help - 3-4 hours on a training range with a Spyder (and no traffic) made a big difference.
Today I rode home on the same Spyder that gave me fits for the test ride - a 2017 RT-S that had been the dealer's demo ride (they just got a 2018 in for their demo unit). Not quite 400 miles on my new-to-me "used" mount. The dealer made me a very attractive deal, it's got full warranty, and taxes here are a good bit less for a 2017 than a 2018. So far I'm pleased. Waiting for the thunderstorm and the 50 mph winds to pass by before taking it out for a long ride.
Congratulations! and Welcome. Glad to hear the training helped.

Air pressure is important for a good ride and handling. Different pressures for different folks.

We stay as far away from cat herders as possible!
Actually, my user name started as a family joke. Way back in the mists of time, when the Internet was a new thing, my nephew and son had pet rats. I needed a handle for an online forum I was on in those days, and they provided inspiration.
BTW, the fancy breeds of rats make excellent pocket pets. They can be surprisingly intelligent and affectionate. Their main drawback as pets is their very short lifespan, which can be pretty heartbreaking for kids.

Pikes Peak AND the sand dunes will be a looong day unless you aren't planning any stops and hikes. They're 4hrs apart, that's 8hrs just riding between, not including any stops. My suggestion would be Pikes Peak in the morning (before our afternoon storms) and then a helping of twisty roads north to Zokas or the Bucksnort Saloon for lunch. Sand Dunes (bring hiking boots and if it's breezy at all, googles or hankerchief around the face), worth the hike if you're up for climbing 700ft of dune.
