Default Double Bubble Oil and Trouble!

Now that I've got my F3---I see Rotax and BRP had the ill sense to retain the goofy viscosity of 5W-40 (as opposed to the much more common 10W-40) motorcycle synthetic. I went to Advanced Auto, O'Reilly's, and The Auto Zone this AM.........no 5W-40, two of them won't order any as they have a 10 case minimum order from their suppliers, and the third didn't have any in stock at ANY of their US stores!

Seriously thinking about just using 10W-40 syn/motorcycle. Anybody else doing that? TY!

Sure. Only need the 5W if you're going to be riding in freezing temps (I believe).

    Default Depends...

It's all about where you live and ryde. Here because of the climate you can go to a higher grade and many use a 20W-50 and when in Texas they would run a 10W-40 and change to 20W-50 in the summer. As long as it meets spec's you fine. You can find it online and at better price if you want to stay with the 5W oil.

I got my oil from BajaRon, which is one of our sponsors. He sells Amsoil 10w 40 full syn. I bought a case from him and try to support our sponsors when I can. He also sells the oil change kits if your interested.

Yea; I spotted that offer on Amazon after I posted. Pretty good deal really. If I don't go that route; I'm just gonna grab some 10W-40 locally. All three of the stores in my OP had that in stock.

Thanks for all the replies and experiences!

    Yes. Absolutely, positively perfectly fine.

As long as the oil you choose has the proper certification for motorcycle wet clutch use.

Unless maybe you often ride when the temperature is below 0 F.

I support my brick and mortar dealer for oil and most parts. My good buddy runs the parts dept and it's less then 2 miles away. I do the labor myself, tho. I get the XPS blend with filter oil change kit which includes all the o-rings and crush washers to do the job.
