Default New Spyder RT-s Owner with a few questions

    Hello all,

New to Spyders (Bought a new 2017 RT-s this past Saturday) so in searching out information on the inter-webs I came upon this place and haven't left yet,

now in reading the forums I have a couple belt questions/concerns,

1st How often should I be checking the belt tension?? I went out and got one of the Krikit tools and read the instructions on the forums here.

2nd, how many are running the "Missing belt guard" is this something I need to get on right away??

And 3rd is there nay other add-ons that are suggested?? (Yeah a really open ended question but what the heck)

    Thanks in advance!

I have NEVER personally checked my belt tension on any of the Spyders I have owned.
I look at where it is tracking on the sprocket after a tire change, but that's it.

missing belt guard is cheap insurance for potential stone damage . If you do a LOT of gravel, or too quickly...might want one.

RYde and enjoy, these things are pretty well sorted out, and the 17 is strange improvement over the 14 I had, so I expect it to be trouble
free also. There are guys that spend more time analyzing their oil, and glimming their witchets, than they do ryding.

Please don't be a witchet glimmerer.

Get several thousahd miles on it before you begin thinking about how to develop a permanently thin wallet due to continual farkle expenditures.

    and
    on your new ryde.

Can't answer about belt tension. No belt guard here either.

How about, you can't have to many lights. A good place to start. Get a LED lit bumpskid (Spyderpops) a vender here.

I also like the Custom Dynamics lighted trunk bar.

Get a couple thousand miles on before doing any major modifications. Enjoy your new

Never checked tension and no guard.
Traveled lots of gravel roads and never a problem if driven sanely.

on your spyder purchase andto the spyder web. You've all ready received some good suggestions. If you haven't all ready done so, you might want to read the do's and don'ts in the general forum. Dale

    Default Welcome, welcome 👍

To both the spyder world and this most informative site...congrats on the new ryde..
Belt tension is a choice as to checking it. A quick twist can tell you or check it before long trips now that you have the tool.
Had the guard and it got chewed off and never relaced it but never had any problems.
What to get....?? wow so many things but rule of thumb..1. safety 2. comfort 3. performance and handling and finally 4. bells and whistles/bling
But for now ryde enjoy and see what you feel you need
