How do you...
New Spyder F3 Limited owner. been on two wheels for 51 years. So this is really different.
want some ideas. when on a trip, parked at a motel how do you secure your spyder. My disc locks won't fit my spyder. Do you rely on the steering bar lock?

I think...........
The Spyders have pretty good theft prevention built in.
A half cover (at least) will make it appear a little less inviting.
Good insurance should provide some piece of mind.

Seeing's where you live, Bar lock it, have good coverage on it, and a 9mm at your bed side would help. Nice part of living i Maine we don't have to worry to much about light hands taking things that don't belong to them. P.S, put a tracker on it, so you can go visit the dumb soul if it comes up missing. Good luck, happy trails

LOCK
our SPYD3RS have a built-in anti-theft devise... turn your front wheels full to either side, and lock with the key... you'll find that in the manual...
next: a good cover, both for protection from weather and most all perps will avoid those that are covered, for those that aren't... when on over-nite rides, i park my SPYD3R where it can be viewed by those behind the desk with security cameras/TV's...
insurance is nice (and mandatory) & locks are OK, but neither will truly stop somebody that is determined...
i've been riding most of my 70 yrs, and i started riding the SPYD3R in 2009, and i find the SPYD3R is far less tampered with than 2 wheelers...
just ride and enjoy and i would worry less about theft than i did while on 2 wheels....

The only times I have heard of one stolen is if it is kept in a trailor and they steal the trailer and all its contents.

A tracker, that is a fine idea. I have one laying around been wondering what to do with it.

It also gives my wife some piece of mind when I'm out on a ride alone in that she can see exactly where I am at on her smartphone.

I use a heavy Kryptonite cable through the rear wheel and wrapped around a light pole, telephone pole, etc. I also put on a full cover. But truly, if they really want it, they're gonna get it.

I thought about a disk lock for my f3t. Then it hit me "PARKING BRAKE" is a disk lock. So I just park it, set the parking break and lock the bars.....and at least the travel cover.

I left the key in one (by mistake) in the front row of a hotel parking lot in Fairbanks AK. It was still there the next morning.
On a recent trip, when checking out of the motel, I panicked because I couldn't find my key anywhere. It was in the trunk lock overnight ....
