    Default LaMonster's AmerSeal Question

I tried a search but didn't find an answer to my question so here it is.

Has anyone used AmerSeal in a regular motorcycle tire?? If yes, have you had a chance to see if it works.

I'm not sure if it's even recommended for use with a conventional motorcycle tire or not but thought I'd ask the question

    thanks

    Default AmerSeal

I have purchased two containers of Lamont's Amerseal. One for my Syder and one for our trailer. Have installed both but, as of today have not had to use them. Main reason for purchasing was for trailer tires. Did not want to have to purchased a $52 spare tire. It installed just as Lamont's demo showed. Also, went on Amerseal website and they show drilling a quarter size hole in tire after installation. Hope this helps with my tires.

    Default Amerseal

My first contact with Amerseal was at a farm show three or four years ago. They had a small tire, about the size of a wheelbarrow tire that had a lever with a pin that was about 1/8 inch in diameter to puncture the tire. I ask the guy about how many holes would he guess that had been punched in the tire and he said somewhere around 2000. He was selling one gal. with pump for 40.00. I have it in all my mower and trailer tires but not in my RT tires. I am seriously considering putting it in when I change tires. I did have a puncture in the sidewall of a mower tire that required a plug.

Your original question remains unanswered but the home site has an Applications .pdf file listing motorcycle tires. I always recommend referfing to the product source for correct information .

So I received a bottle of Lamonts Ameriseal from him. I thought it was to come with a plastic tube for the install but do not see anything in the packaging. Was I mistaken?

    Default Ameriseal

Take off the cap and you will find a short clear tube and a thing to take out the stem of the tire.

    Default WARNING when installing AmerSeal

    I learned the hard way.

Nowhere in the directions does it mention point #3 below

    1. Remove valve stem core
    2. Install appropriate amount of AmerSeal
    3. BEFORE putting valve stem core back in, hook up your air supply to the valve stem to blow out any product from the valve stem!!!!
    4. Reinstall valve stem core and pump tire to desired air pressure.

Anyway, the story is that I did the back tire first. I put in the desired amount of AmerSeal. I ended up with some on the rim, tire and floor. Before proceeding, I cleaned up the mess.
Then I installed the valve stem core and tried to add air to the tire. I was using an electric compressor to install the air. The gauge on the compressor went to 220 PSI right away and the tire wasn't taking air.
It appears the the AmerSeal plugged the hole on the inside of the valve stem.
Long story short, I removed the valve stem core and cleaned everything up the best I could and then installed a NEW core.
The tire will take air but it took about 5 minutes to get the tire up the the proper air pressure.

The front tires were a snap because I made sure to do step 3 above right away.
