    Default Scoops finally installed

Finally got the scoops installed. Called three dealers and got the following answers 1. they don't make them any more 2. $525 to install them 3. $325 all done. Chose the last option had them installed. they found 3 ECM updates, topped off radiator, and found some misc washers etc missing. Final cost out the door $402. Best money spent. I have now wrapped the pipes, installed Spyder Pops block off plate and the scoops. Took a ride today temp in mid 80's and no longer had "chestnuts roasting" by the glove box.

This should have been a mandatory fix for all RT Spyders. I will now be able to enjoy this the way I had hoped to when I purchased it last year. I use F-11 Top Coat and it has brought back all of the black and as you can see it really shines. people can't believe it is 6 years old with 36000 miles on it.

I know I have trouble staying on the same page sometimes but wasn't the scoops a recall fix? Meaning free...

    Edit
ok, 2013 models probably is the answer.

Pat, Yes for '13's it was a factory recall fix, He's got a '12 and like many others found that the '13 fix fit and worked for any RT that's too hot between the thighs.

I got a set from velocity power sports in ladson south Carolina a couple years ago and installed them myself. not a cure all but they helped a lot. I also installed the blockoff plate at the right foot location and removed the plastic underneath. I prefer my bike without the blockoff plate. less heat thru the seat with it removed. 2012 rts

Did you remove the acoustic panels? There is a post somewhere that shows that some dealers and DIY have left them in and the scoops do not work if the panels are in place.

    Just a tought.
