When I was working in the judge advocate office at Fort Leonard Wood in 1991, an Army reservist (and doctor) named Huet-Vaughn was court-martialed there for desertion for refusal to report for duty in Desert Storm. Huet-Vaughn was willing to accept her pay and benefits as a reservist but was unwilling to actually serve when her country called her, and Desert Storm was a really "just" war, too. In spite of all that, Margot Kidder showed up at Fort Leonard Wood to offer "support" for that cretin, which was big news in a very small town at that time. As I recall, she was acting kind of crazy at the time (I mean, aside from supporting a deserter), as in dressing really weird and making weird statements to the press, so maybe she had some mental problems. Regardless, although I sympathize with Margot Kidder's family for their loss, I cannot forgive Margot Kidder herself for what she did and I cannot say I miss her.

Apparently she had a troubled life.
